So the dolch set on originativeco is made in germany which makes me assume its GMK but then all their kits are split up and priced gouged..

It is GMK, the only difference is the Dolch set there includes text on the mod keys (shift/enter etc). Prices are higher but if you only wanted the Numpad/Mods it might be better than having spent 110$ on the Base Kit here. I'd be more concerned about Originative actually fulfilling the orders, 8-12 weeks lead time and a history of ignoring e-mails/delayed shipments is not promising.

Yeah I'm going to email them about it. Also the way they did their mod kits is weird. They didn't even specifically list what was in each.

I'm trying to get orders sent out as quickly as I can. Got though another 40 odd orders today.

The main reason for the numbers only numpad legends is so you can use them on standalone numpads, boards like the CM TK or Plum 96 and etc that don't follow the standard secondary nav arrangements. I also like that it's more minimal and cleaner looking which follows on well with the over all aesthetic.

Why does the '" key (hyphen key? Don't make fun of me!) have an @ symbol front printed?

See GB layout.

It's see that it is there, just not sure what the purpose of the @ sign is. In other words to me it seems as out of place as having a $ sign front-printed on the letter 'a' key.

I'm sure there's some logical purpose, not questioning that, but what is it? :/

That is for UK ISO compatibility. On the UK ISO you have @ and ' on the same key, @ instead of "

As long as we're talking about *next* time, we really need an R1 1x \| key!  With the R2 backspace and R3 control we were so close to *accidentally* supporting the HHKB layout.

I doubt GMK does have a mold for that, considering there's no cherry keyboard with that key in R1.

Ivan got a question about the JOKER key. Is GMK able to create new legends easily, or was that from some old mold they had lying around?

I can't imagine what a "joker" key would be for :D

The JOKER key was something they had. I've been asking about cutting some new legends now and then, but they always tell me they aren't ready to offer that service yet.

Yeah pretty much this. I still need to build the board and am undecided on a few bits and waiting for LEDs so I just threw things together for a picture  :)
Do most people tend to put material between the pcb / case then (shelf liner is it?). What purpose does it serve?

I was thinking about getting some o rings to put between the pcb and case to help soften the keystrokes a little but I need to find somewhere to source some the right size in the UK.

Didn't even notice the PCB lmao, fine then :) I took some packaging material (very similar to that from the Viper) and put it in my other keyboard. It makes the case feel and sound less hollow. Quite nice in my opinion.

i really enjoy your photos and their distinctive style. what do you think about red housings in general? they look really nice in standalone photos (especially when combined with a dark keyset), but i feel like the red draws too much attention to itself if it's placed in a black-predominant setting. and having a keyboard as the centerpiece of your computer area is just wrong to me

Thanks! I generally prefer black or silver/gray housings. My desk isn't predominantly black, my computer case is white as is my desk - I don't mind the way colored cases look there personally  :)
