Official Doctor Who GH Thread

Let's do it.
The new season hasn't started yet but Peter Capaldi is going to be the best doctor ever.

Also Moffat better not screw up his character like he did with this whole Clara bull****.

Matt Smith and Amy suck.

That iteration of the show ruined everything.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Martha was the best companion ever, but Rose and Sarah Jane were great, too.

And Rory was about the only good character in the last set.

I thought Matt Smith did a great job as Doc. I do prefer Tennant(although I still think he should've spoken Scottish), but Smith did a much better job than Eccleston(from what I've seen of him at least).

I liked Eccleston. He had force and I don't think Doctor Who would have taken off without him.
I thought he did a really good job considering how awkward the first episode of Doctor Who was.

It's hard for me to see what's left for Clara now, honestly.  As to Capaldi, here's hoping.  He's got some big sand shoes to fill.  Grandad did well considering how short his time as The Doctor was, too.

I'm going to be real: Rory has been the best companion of the new series full stop.  His dad was good, too.

More real: fohat needs the cane and rocking chair to complete his first post in here...

If they don't let Capaldi play the Doctor as a sinister mean ******* who shouts out absurd offensive insults I am not interested.

So you want to watch a show called Master Who, then?  Cause you're describing the Master more than the Doctor.  That said, new Doctor is said to be "more fierce and tricky"

I liked Eccleston. He had force and I don't think Doctor Who would have taken off without him.

A lot of the first series had that filler awkward to it.

I'm not gonna deny that he did a good job all things considered, that may very well be the case, but the episodes I've seen with him just haven't been anywhere near as entertaining as anything with Tennant or Smith.

The show never hit its stride until Pertwee came along, and he really brought it to life. Baker was King for a very long time, and Davidson was a stumbler but managed to stay upright.

After that it got very lame for a long time, and what was with that weird movie that appeared out of nowhere in 2 decades of silence?

Coming back "new and improved" for modern audiences took balls and luck but it really managed to work.

I hated what happened when Moffat got control because he totally went Hollywood and gutted it of its discretion.

And I utterly hated the characters, except for Rory, and that retarded "puppy love" thing with the companion was just nauseating.

I will admit to a guarded acceptance of River, but I never "liked" her as a character.

Hopefully this will help flesh out the basis of my opinions.

"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”

I liked Paul what's his last name in that 5 min Doctor Who special.

I liked all the doctors in modern series.
Eccleston was the dude you'd get a beer with.
Tennant's the fatherly type
Matt Smith is the horny old man. I really hated the majority of the Matt Smith episodes though.
I think Capaldi will be the I'm still young old guy.

Matt Smith was the worst. He really turned me off the show for a while, thank Boe he's gone now.

Eccleccsson(?) was probably my favorite because he was relateable, but Tenant was good too.

oh.. ok, looking forward to it....

I did not liking the new central console in the late episodes...  kinda turns into starwars/trek...  the whole steampunk, scrap-collect look seemed a staple component of the retro-nostalgia themed tardis.

He was a writer for a few seasons and then became the showrunner after Davies left.

Am I wrong to assume that he is the primary motivating force behind the show "going Hollywood"?

That would be a fairly even share with Russell T Davies.  Also, the current console looks more like the original than any other of the new reboot.

YES Baker was KING of all the Doctors even comparing to the incipient ones lately.  Can never forget in a time of absolute crisis his dulcet tone of "Anybody wants a Jellybaby?"

It now seems that all the 'latest' Doctor shows seem aimed at younger audiences wanting special effects above all else that really matters - the story line.

Shame because they have completely lost all that was significant when it came to the long history of the Doctor and Time Lords in general.  The answer for the current series, just destroy the Time Lords and act like they never mattered at all.  Typical lazy-arse attitudes of the current crop of directors/script writers in general  >:D .

After years of boycotting Matt Smith, I finally started watching Season 5.  One of my sisters says he grows on you, the other one has begrudgingly broke her boycott just to get through the stories and onto the new Dr.

I really enjoyed Eccleston.  He seemed to set a serious tone to the reboot, which I thought was brilliant and necessary.  Have fun, but keep on with the serious business, no faffing about.

David Tennant was brilliant.  My sisters got to meet him when he was in town filming Gracepoint this year, super nice guy!

Matt Smith was awful.

And I am gagging on Peter Capaldi so far.

And, logic-wise, Clara should have been stuck in the vortex forever.

Moffat needs to break away from the whole show because it's rapidly becoming a monumental REPEAT of past stories, yet AGAIN.  Geez that Moffat character couldn't come up with anything new anymore hence it's now stuck in transit, destined to repeat his own horrible bullsh1t forever.

I'm not sure how i feel about the new Doc yet. I will like to see more eps to see how its goes. and my fav companions from the restart of 2005 are
1. Rose Tyler and Captain Jack Harkness
2. Amy Pond and Rory Williams
3. River Song
4. Clara Oswald. theres still more to see with her but so far i'm liking her.
5. Martha Jones.  i can take her or leaver. she did have her moments tho.
6. Wilfred Mott. i liked him. hes a old loveble guy. If you don't know who Wilfred Mott is thats Donna Noble grandpa
7. Most of all the companions that had a 1 or 2 appearances. For example some of my favs are Craig Owens, and Astrid Peth she was the girl that worked as a waitress on the starship Titanic

and # i don't give a **** about is. Donna Noble. I couldn't stand her. She WAS so annoying. She also had her moments but not enough for me to like her.

Thats my little list. So who are some of your Fav companions ? Plz post companions from the reboot from 2005 and now

I don't like ANY of the companions.. They're all too flimsy.. perhaps this is because they're placed next to a demi-god..

The companion is simply there to weaken the Doctor's abilities.. and ground him to earth...  otherwise.. why would such a being be interested or even Bother hanging out with us.

EXACTLY this in SPADES ^^^^

Moffat the MORON keeps trying to establish that Human Beings are valued in the Cosmos when in reality they're no more important than cockroaches (in reality as well).  If someone of Doctor Who's abilities really existed then he'll be out their fiddling around with other greater civilizations, rather than wasting his time here on Earth.

I actually like the Master, there's a character with real potential unfortunately Moffat seems only transfixed with the Doctor and his companion, hence you will always get the same old storyline repeated and washed, ready for next week's viewing  >:( .

Yeah, these first couple episodes just seem mumbly and fumbly to me.  I can't get a handle on this doctor at all other than that he might be the dictionary definition of mercurial.

1. Rose Tyler and Captain Jack Harkness

Rose was very good (and grew into the part as time went by) and her boyfriend (Mick?) went from zero to a moderately effective character.

Jack Harkness never did much for me, and Torchwood was pretty lame. But it helped immensely to find out that he is the Face of Boe.

2. Amy Pond and Rory Williams

Amy was insipid and worthless and Rory was great. Rory was the 2nd best companion of the series.

5. Martha Jones. She did have her moments.

Martha was fantastic. She put me off at first, but I now think she was one of the best companions ever.

6. Wilfred Mott. i liked him. hes a old loveble guy.

and # i don't give a **** about is. Donna Noble. I couldn't stand her. She WAS so annoying. She also had her moments but not enough for me to like her.

Donna was infinitely irritating but I was finally able to tolerate her just a bit at the end.

Her grandfather made a wonderful auxiliary-faux-companion and was perfect for counterpoint.

I only liked rose tyler when she was in -diary of a call girl-, I thought that show was at least novel,

Definitely at least she acted realistically compared to her Doc Who debacle.  Some of them fail at being decent actresses when they feign acting in Sci-Fi, I would like to see Scarlett Johansson play the Doc's companion and of course KILL off "Moffat the Moron" from the series and hire Stephen Baxter, Vernor Vinge, David Webber and Sharon Lee.

Then you'll see a realistic interpretation of Doctor Who instead of the boring, lame rubbish coming in now.

Oh another issue I have with current season as I listen to prior season OSTs; the soundtrack this year has not at all been as good.

Don't even start on that.

The theme music has lost its original menacing mystery, they never improved on the 1960s theme.

One of the worst parts of the series "going Hollywood" in my opinion.

You can't fight hollywood man...  it's a system of money laundering, and they're the biggest game in town.. Every movie company wants to be in bed with Hollywood.

When it's done right then you have something there to impress, just like the current flick done by Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow, just seen it last night on my TV and it's really okay - better than the average hollywood disasters.

You need brilliant writer(s), movie ensembles (hollywood still hauls arse there) and a conscious director, can produce a film or series that can endure for years to come.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee because the only ones with money still reside across the pond from Westminster.
