This is a group buy for a Black zippered hoodie.

We will be going with a hoodie by Independent Trading Company (IND4000Z)
"Men's zip hood made with premium heavyweight fabric, generous spec and quality construction. Fleece lined hood, heavy gauge round drawcord with nickel eyelets, #5 nickel kissing zipper, 1x1 ribbing at cuffs and waistband."  Construction is 80% cotton and 20% poly, so there will be some shrinkage.   Of note though is that the fit on these is oversize, so you should be good with your standard size - it will be a loose fit.

The design:
I am going to keep this simple and to the point.  I will be doing the hoodies in black with a logo on the front left and back.

Here is a mock-up: (rear logo is done in Special Select font with black print on the black hoodie - shown in just off black to be visible for mock-up)

front logo:

Update

Pricing
Ok, finishing up the orders at 47.  I just put everything in my payment spreadsheet and came up with a deficit.  I royally screwed up, my estimate failed to take into account sales tax for California.

Final pricing including sales tax and the paypal fees are as follows.

XS-XL:  Base price of $31 x 8%= $33.48.  plus paypal of 3% = $34.48
2XL:  Base price of $34 x 8% = $36.72.  plus paypal of 3% = $37.82
3XL-5XL:  Base price of $39 x 8% = $42.12.  plus paypal of 3% = $43.38

I am a not a business, I need the orders to be payed as goods with the additional paypal fee since I didn't add any profit in this.  These are the base prices.  I will be paying the same amount for mine.

I apologize for the error, and if this causes any issues and you need to cancel your order, please let me know so I can remove you from the list.
Shipping will be on an order to order basis based on location and there will be a 3% paypal fee and an optional 3% donation to GH.

Sizing:

69114-0

Special thanks to CPTbadass and Krogenar for their help in getting this put together.

Final Order quantity confirmation:

I need to know beforehand how much shipping to Germany will be.

CPTBadAss can send 2 of his shirts for 13$. Is it safe to assume that 1 Hoodie will cost the same?

I am thinking 1-2 weeks as I want this to be a quickly done GB.  Ideally, I would like to get these done asap so that they can be done before keycon west.

I went to the post office yesterday with an Independent Hoodie (sz lrg.) to get shipping quotes.  This thing is over 2 lbs. and as a result, the international shipping is a bit pricey at $26 ($18 for Canada).  This would be shipping in a large Poly bag.

If there is a better option, please chime in.  The best pricing I found was through USPS.

We are now at 13 (including my 2).  Still a ways to go to get to the MOQ of 54.  I may have have to stretch this one out a bit more than I was hoping as I would really like to get this GB done.

That is exactly why I am doing this now.  Figure I might as well get them done before it gets cold.

No worries just as long as it gets done.

Besides this is going to be made in the USA hence you need to wait for the traditional cold to arrive when it comes to convincing people to part with their money for clothing (don't know why that is so).

Well, it looks like we are going to have to keep this GB open for a little while.  Not a chance these will be ready for Keycon West in 2 weeks.

We are currently at 14 orders with an MOQ of 54.  I am going to contact my shop and see what the pricing would be on a lower MOQ (this was the suggested minimum order and that the cost would go up significantly from here).  We will see.

Measuring my old hoodie, I should be an XS< but since it's an M, I'll go S.

Measuring clothing is so difficult. Mom just guessed.

Quick update.  As of today (7/16/14) we are at 19 orders.

I also wanted to give a quick heads up to those that are outside the US.  I went to the post office to get shipping quotes based on the weights of the hoodies that I got from the manufacturer.  These things are very heavy and as a result are going to be pricey to ship.  I will be covering all materials and only charging actual shipping rates.  As of now, the best quote to ship a large international is $26 ($20 for Canada).

If anyone has any suggestions for cheaper shipping options, let me know.  I was planning on shipping in large tyvek clothing envelopes so that the added weight is minimal and they are mostly weather-proof.

Here are the weights of the units based on size:

Yeah, no worries.

I am working with the screen shop to try to lower the MOQ without raising the price.

One option is to exchange the front logo for a transfer.  This would allow the front logo to be made separately in much lower quantities and would completely remove 4 screens from the production (which would lower the setup costs).  The main problem with that being that the "keyboard enthusiasts" under the key logo would either need to be removed from the design or have a black outline.   One really cool bonus to this option would be that I would be able to order additional garments in the future (doesn't even have to be a hoodie) and have almost no setup cost.

I think I could live without "keyboard enthusiasts" but what does everyone else think?
How bad would the outline be? Like how visible against the black?

If we have to take something away, I could take away the back logo. I like the "Keyboard enthusiasts" but that could go I suppose. :(

It would basically be a satin black outline against the flat finish of the hoodie.

As of right now, I am not planning on removing or changing anything.  The retro logo is my favorite thing about the design.  I just want to give us some options if things get dragged on too long.  Still the middle of Summer, and with only a 1-2 week lead time, we are not rushed.  The biggest hurdle right now is finding cheaper shipping options.  $26 to ship a $31 hoodie is a deal breaker for a lot of people.

This.  If anything would have to be pruned out - lose the chest logo and keep the retro on the back.

...And my order incoming shortly.  Once I figure out how to measure myself to see what size I need -- then decide if I want to get it baggy.

There's been some confusion in this thread.
I don't think there was ever a mention of removing the back logo...
The only possible change discussed was to either have a black border around the white text or remove it altogether.
The black border sounds like it would be very unobtrusive. If I had some old band hoodies laying around still I could post a picture.
The reason for this is the idea of changing the method of printing to reduce costs.
I guess removing the back logo entirely would reduce the cost, but seems like a drastic and unneeded change.

Pretty much this.  I am hoping that there will be no reason to reduce costs as I want to have produced the highest quality garment that I can.  The mention of a change is only as a last resort (which will still give a quality garment), so that we can hit a lower MOQ without me having to raise the prices after a $ amount has already been posted.

I thought I missed this GB. How are these w.r.t. shrinkage? Order up a size recommended here?

Also... at this point I don't care what gets removed / what stays as long as it has geekhack something, something on it I'm cool.

I have one of these hoodies. They don't shrink that much. They will be baggy and huge on you. I wear a large and I think the hoodie might be closer to an extra large. Here are some fit pictures compared to the American Apparel hoodies. I consider the AA hoodies to be my favorite hoodies followed closely by the Independent Hoodies offered here.

Exactly.  The supplier told me to recommend that people order their correct size and assume that it will still be a baggy fit.   :thumb:  These are not skinny hoodies.

Very cool merch GB. Is this the first time a GH hoodie has been designed?
I'm a big fan of pullover hoodies, so a pullover design would be more of a wallethack for me personally  ;)

Still a tempting buy regardless. Even for just a run-of-the-mill zip-up hoodie, that price is pretty cheap!

Ok, we are up to 23 orders.   Still a long way from the MOQ of 54.  My thought is to just let this keep going and see what happens.  For those that want, you can just pm me to remove your order at any time if it is just dragging on too long.

I haven't ordered yet. Will probably buy two after I measure. [I know, it's been weeks!]

No worries, even if a bunch of people ordered all of a sudden, I would give everyone good notice.
