If it's got that offset bend in the middle it won't work with a plate. It will still work on a pcb without a plate though.
I stay busy with work and family these days, but I'm still around, lurking.

I just added a PCB to my order.  There was mention that there might be a way for me to improve the 2KRO to more than that without having to add diodes and traces from the jumper holes.  Does anyone have anymore info on this?  What am I trying to do to do this?  I only need 3KRO to be comfortable, but 4KRO would be ideal...

The bend is too tall and doesn't fit between the pcb and the plate.

No. But if they do have the bolt on ones for us, would it be a problem if all the PCB mounts got those? I don't really want the hassle of dealing with both kinds.

Are the bolt ones 100% compatible with PCB mount PCBs?  If yes, then maybe, but if not then I don't see how that would work.  Can we get more details on the bolt ones and how they are expected to work?  I know for my PCBs I am not sure how the bolt one would work...

Physically I believe they are compatible. Keep in mind that when using the screw mounted ones traces and groundplanes need to be further away from the holes to clear the screw heads. I would prefer the clip-in's for this reason.

Besides Cherry G80 models, the only other thing I ever used bolt ons is the GH60 rev A I have. The only real difference I think they have now is they use a bolt instead of the clip in (obviously) which makes them much harder to unseat but maybe more likely to damage the PCB? The original ones like i have didn't have those little shocks under the stem insert pieces either which made them feel better but I don't think this is the case anymore. So, I think they are all the same really. As far as the ones I have, the base that makes contact with the PCB seem to be the same dimensions so it shouldn't really matter.

Cool. Thanks for the detail. I think it is probably fine to replace the PCB mount ones with the PCB bolt mount ones then (if they are available).

which means to say,
the PCB 6.25u has the bend.

PCB 7u, plate 6.25u, plate 7u is straight?

Bolt is small, shouldn't even be a concern.

Yes, only the pcb mount 6.25 has a bend.

I'm stupid when it comes to building a board so I have to ask if besides building a board without a plate is there any instance I will need a 6.25 PCB mounted wire/stab set with the curved offset in the middle?

Here is a picture of the bolted ones:

(Click for high res)
Those tiny screws you see on there are the bolts.

Compare it to the Backspace stabilizers which are regular PCB-mounted ones.

Ya, I would be interested in the bolt stabs as well.  Mainly because I have never seen them before, so that makes me want to try them.  Oh and because pcb mount stabs always come out on me when I pull tight keycaps, which is annoying...

Not to be dense but these bolt mount stabs work with any PCB that accepts regular PCB mount stabs? I thought the PCB had to have a different hole for the bolt?

That's what I thought too, which is why I'm confused as to where this demand is coming from.  AFAIK there are few boards that will accept them and they usually come with them.

My understanding is that the bolt uses the same hole on the pcb. Instead of the expansion tabs fitting down into the hole, the screw mounts into the plastic from the bottom of the pcb.

PCB mount have the same mounting dimension whether it is clip in or bolt. The bolt is the only difference, and does go in the same place as the expansion tab. They will work just the same on any PCB that can fit PCB mount Cherry stabilizer.

My interest in this GB stems from exactly the same problem. When I built my TrikX I used the stabs and wires that Team Redline include with the PCB, Case, etc. To be fair, they included way more wires than I needed but now I'm thinking it's because they were manufactured by a third party (the wires, at least, if not the Stabs also).

Most of them are working very well (and they are much, much better than the Plate Mounts that came on my Leopold .. my first mech... back when EK first swapped over from Filco) with one exception: my numpad zero: the wire on that stab always pops out when I pull that key off. Fortunately, I've settled on my favorite colorway (WoB) and they have stayed put from some time. Also fortunately, this stab wire has to be the best stab wire to have this problem with: I can just take the PCB and that stab wire is right down there are the edge of the board and I can pop it back in with precision screwdriver.

That said... I am hoping that my problem is merely that the OD of the stab wires that Trik provided is (however slightly) too small and that swapping this out with a (hopefully) closer-to-spec stab wire from Cherry sorts this all out.

Cheers,

K

If they are the bolt version, I'll get some of those instead.

A second question, I assume everything will ship from the US, and that the PCBs will add a significant amount to the shipping costs, correct?

Ordered. I have ordered black on black sets, Dolch sets and now 2x PCB. I'd like these to ship with whichever is sent first of the keycap sets, please Ivan (unless of course the sets and PCBs can all be shipped together?).
Buying more keycaps,
