Some hakko soldering stations (mini GB?)
« on: Sat, 19 July 2014, 22:11:41 »
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181469995685

They appear to be genuine (there are a lot of fake 951s out there), and while they are not my favorite choice for pro level soldering stations, the 951 is a massive upgrade from the 888, for example. If it's possible to get the lot at a low enough price, that would be a nice bargain. These use T15 tips, typically at $10-$15 each for the basic ones and around 80 different tip options can be had.

If there are enough people interested, someone can volunteer to be the designated bidder/shipper for these. Not me, though, I don't need an nth soldering station :p

I'm game for splitting them with 5 others.

I'm in for one.

So what would you guys be willing to pay for these? $100 per unit? If no one else wants to place the bid and handle shipping to others, I can do it. I can even use a sniping service, so that the bid wouldn't be visible until the end, allowing us to get them for the best possible price.

The listing is vague when it comes to the voltage of these units, but the one image shows a 120v station. Since they were almost certainly used at one location, I'd bet that they are all 120v units.

Also, there are 6 bases and 6 holders, but only 5 irons. So really, a group would only want to split these between 5 people. Maybe the one without an iron could be sold at a discount to someone who is willing to source their own iron.

Oh, and international shipping would probably run between $40-60 for one unit.

I'd be interested if we can get the units for really cheap. Say...under $75 per.

Interested, but it looks like I probably won't get in on it with my late comment.  Good luck to those who can get a station.  Let's hope the units work.

Also, it seems the stations are missing their tip cleaners.  Luckily, they're fairly cheap on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Hakko-599B-02-Solder-Cleaning-Holder/dp/B00FZPGDLA

I'd go as high as $100, though the cheaper the better.

So how does this plan sound to everyone? I'll place a sizeable snipe bid in, and if we win, I'll start at the top of this thread with all those who expressed interest. The first four others who can send payment immediately after the bidding closes, for 1/5 of the winning bid, plus shipping to them, gets the units. Sound fair?

Ok.  Thanks for doing that. I would if I had the cash but I don't right now.  I only have $$ for one.

Well, we didn't win guys. Sorry. I bid $456, which with the $45 shipping would have made the total $501. Someone just wanted them more than we did, I guess.
