PCB mount options with MX Browns
« on: Tue, 22 July 2014, 18:35:39 »
Just wondering what PCB mount options with MX Browns are out there.

60%, 75%, either

Having finger pain issues...so I'm wanting to try various lighter springs and krytox without needing to solder things.

Cherry G80-1800/1865
KBC Poker 1/X (Not 2)
Cherry G80-3000
Some PLUM MX96 boards - they switched to plate sometime during production
Some Neo KB87 - believe some of these switched to plate also

MX 8000 series like this is a good choice. It's cheap and comes with nice doubleshot keycap too.

I need smaller than fullsize, that Cherry board wouldn't fit on my desk!  :))

Ah I see. Well in that case I would second the Neo if you need something ready made. But you might have some issues getting a hold of one and will probably need to deal with sourcing from TaoBao. There really are way too few PCB mount keyboard options.

Could also try a Topre variable board. They're fairly light and tactile like brown. Just throwing that out there. I have zero fatigue issues on a 55g Topre, but I know others with more sensitive hands may have trouble with them. The 45g uniform Topre is very light to me.

Compaq G80-11800, about as wide as tenkeyless and supposedly easy to mod to tenkeyless.

Oh yeah that's another option. Those 11800 are often cheap on ebay and aren't too wide. Easy to cut off the numpad/trackball section and keep them working yes... easy to make that look nice afterwards... not without some serious skill.
