New to the community. (and in need of some advice)
« on: Wed, 23 July 2014, 07:27:11 »
Hello everybody.

I have had an interest in keyboards (and buttons in general) for quite some time now but so far they have mostly been rubber dome stuff such as a Compaq with NMB rubber domes (currently in use) and a Fujitsu with, well, Fujitsu rubber dome.

Recently though i managed to come in contact with a guy who wants to sell me (really cheap) two classic AT mechanical-keyboards but one of them has made me a little bit unsure.

You see while the first one, a clicky Datacomp DFK102SDA03, was easy enough to identify, information about the second one which he claims to be a 'non clicky Honeywell 102WN' completely eludes me no matter where on the internet i search.

So does anyone here know anything about this mysteries keyboard? Would it be a good idea to buy it alongside the Datacomp one?

Thanks in beforehand, oh and please excuse my bad English.

Of course. the upper is the datacomp while the lower is the honeywell.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Now look what you've done!  If you search for Honeywell 102WN, guess which page comes up first?  This one! :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
