I went for it! The price made it pretty impossible for me not to jump the gun, but this'll be my first model m :] The next BS board I get will hopefully be a SSK. Hopefully hopefully I won't buy any other BS boards in the near future because I set the standard so high haha
I have so many buckling spring boards now I can't even remember how many. Got to be at least 10 Fs and something like 6 Ms, though one of the Ms is currently missing. It's only a terminal KB for parts.
How difficult is it to make into ANSI? That sounds like a project I'd like to take on.
1. Start to bolt mod it (cut rivets off, drill frame for new bolts)
2. When it's open, move "enter-area" hammers around to ANSI locations. Remove "extra" hammer from leftshift location.
3. install stabilizer inserts for shift and enter (I think the enter one just needs to be moved over? all my ISO enters are from model Fs and have wires) You will need a new stabilizer barrel insert for left shift though
4. finish bolting it back together (install bolts, nuts, screw together (just barely finger tight. do not tighten! )
5. ?? ?
6. Profit!
You will end up with one spare hammer. and need one stabilizer insert from unicomp. You will also need donor ANSI left shift, enter and \| (the key above enter) keycaps.
I totally WAS going to harvest a stab insert from that terminal M I had but since I can't find it, I guess I'll get it from one of the others. Maybe I'll just say "forget it!" and put a shift from a 1390120. Maybe I'll turn my old unicomp into a "parts" unit. Hmm.
I'll probably ansi / bolt mod mine so I can document it when that happens.
