Ok, so long story short, money is a bit tight, after paying for a tow, money is tighter, and then school starts next month. I have an SSK, that was in fantastic shape to begin with, that I send to Maxx at phosphorglow.net to get recondition and have an LED mod done to. I know I will absolutely hate giving it up, but if I must I think I would like to trade it for a back lit TKL board. But which one?

I see Ducky all the time and assume they are nice boards. But what about 'Keycool' or 'Deck Francium'? Other suggestions?

If anything just buy a new board, but keep the SSK.

Keep the SSK!

Then buy a KUL ES-87 and forget about backlighting. Or if you MUST have it, get a Ducky Shine or QFR-i. The new Keycools use Kailh switches, not Cherry MX.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Why not just keep the SSK? The ONLY feature this keyboard is missing is being an F. But it's still way better than anything you will get that has backlighting. If you really need the light, buy a lamp :p

there is no way in hell that ANY non korean custim board is worth an ssk.

this is coming from a hardcore LED lover

sell the ssk for 200 to 250 and spend 150 of that on a board if that's what you want to do.

Keep SSK, especially if it has been modded by phosphorglow
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yea homie

Just read all them other people, don't trade the SSK. I mean the best they are giving you the best advice, just don't do that kind of trade it's not worth a shot.

Just wait to get a little money and get another board later on. It would be a really bold move to trade the SSK imo.

Like seriously dude you can't be serious trading such a nice board for a basic backlite TKL. Backlite has no other function than be shiny for noobs that still need to look at the keyboard when playing games.

Just learn to touch type backlite is useless and boring.

You might be able to trade it for a Kustom of you're really set on trading it

Personally I like kustoms more than SSKs, but as always it's just preference.

First, I really don't want to trade it. But if I did I wouldn't do an even trade... I know the boards worth $250+. I would take like ~$100 board + $150 in cash.

Second, This would be a last ditch effort, I don't want to get rid of it, and don't currently plan on it. I know its silly but I do like the back lit boards, I don't usually/need look at all when I type anyways, but IDK.

Third, I don't even have it back from Maxx, and I am sure once I do it wont leave my hands. Just $$ was tight as it was, and now I have some other unexpected things I had to pay, so this is/was a last ditch effort to liquidate some potential $$ if need be.
