Nice one - congratulations on making MassDrop with your design (if that is an appropriate thing to say) :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I am seriously a fan of everything Matt3o makes

You are not the ONLY one here on Geekhack  8) .  There's always been a Matt fan-club here which he deserves since he still carry's the incentive to design and produce miraculous caps that capture everyone's attention and admiration.

Needless to say I'm the biggest card-carrying Matt3o supporter here and am proud of that fact  :thumb: .

Indeed. Congrats! I've really enjoyed some of the projects you've been involved in matt30. It was all down hill for me after purchasing my granite set. It inspired a fun, and yet very expensive hobby for me :))

I've put the pumpkin key on shapeways here http://www.shapeways.com/model/2834011/pumpkin-keycap-mdash-metal.html

it's available in various colors. Please note that I'm experimenting with a new stem that I'm still beta testing. It should work but if it's too loose simply add a piece of plastic bag, if it's too tight you can file it (it takes time but it's feasible). Either case please let me know how it fits! Thanks

i saw these on Massdrop for a MRSP $25.00 before the drop, will you be selling these for $25? just a little confused as to where they pulled that number out of before the drop since you are the maker.

Well, technically I'm the "designer", not the "maker". These are 3d printed since molding is complex when you have holes on the sides. The metal and resin ones are very high definition, the standard plastic is ok.

Honestly I have no clue where they got $25 MRSP, sculpteo makes volume discount, so maybe if you print just 1 that is  the price. I will be putting these on sales on Shapeways in a bit, but the price won't be that high!

Could you also put this one on Shapeways? :P

I will!

Thanks for the info, i wasnt complaining about the price, i actually feel its very fair. I was trying to figure out how Massdrop puts an MSRP on things that have never been sold before. Looks great non the less and i remember reading your posts when it was just a wooden proto. Rock on man

sculpteo is in France, so I guess shipping/handling is expensive for a US based company. Maybe that causes an inflated MRSP. Also —between us— all MRSPs on massdrop seem a bit inflated to me :P

Hey Matt3o, so I have both the matte black steel and the enhanced detailed pumpkeys.

The transparent one fits great, but the metal one's stem refuses to go on! Do you have any suggestions on making it fit? I'm not very good with tools.

I'm a bit confused :) one says that is loose the other tight :D probably 3d printing in Metal can vary a lot from batch to batch.

Anyway let's see if I can help you somehow.

The transparent one fits great, but the metal one's stem refuses to go on! Do you have any suggestions on making it fit? I'm not very good with tools.

It's extremely easy to fix!

Take a small flat screw driver and use it as a lever to SLIGHTLY spread the stem. Proceed with caution, but don't be afraid: it's steel, pretty durable.

Ahhh, Matt3o, I got the matte black metal one. It looks great, and I love it. But unfortunately, as you said before, it is a little loose.

If it is loose all you have to do is to place a little piece of plastic bag in the stem. Unfortunately steel is very hard and doesn't bend easily, so it's difficult to find the perfect match for the MX stem.

Please let me know if it works.

To both: if you can't make it work, just let me know, I'll send you money back!

Some days or i think 2 weeks ago i got the PumpKey from Shapeways! The color is orange, and the level of detail very nice. I would not have thought that 3D printing is that good - you can't compare it of course with a resin cap, but it is not bad at all. Unfortunately the stem is very, very loose. I think i'll add some glue to the stem to make it smaller. Here are two pictures of this gorgeous cap, but i have no backlight switches here, and you'll only see its evil eyes:

I love the top of the cap, the detail of the pumpkin top and the stipe is great:
