Who wants to take bets that something that isn't an SSK shows up to whoever buys it?

I thought I recognized that picture...

:))  I wonder how ebay/paypal would handle that.... You pay the guy, it takes a month to reach you, and by the time you get it and see that's it's a colecovision keyboard, the paypal account is cleared and closed.

And it's not like reporting a fraudulent listing to ebay beforehand does anything.

There was another 0 feedback seller from China, not two days ago, who listed a new 122-key Model F (6110345) and were using one of ncbounds images of a 122-key Model M. It was removed a day after it was listed. Other items they were selling included a new clack.

I've heard that what happens is if the price is below a certain amount PayPal just says too bad deal with it....so if the sellers list enough things get a few dollars then disappear create more fake accounts/auctions etc. profit.

on the fake hhkb's i don't think anyone actually got anything.

Shocked this wasnt the same seller who just had that click clack up, with the picture that wasn't theirs either. They were from china and had 0 feedback as well, but their username was just a bunch of numbers and the listing is gone now.

Nah, it was just something like 9848584. Although since the listing is gone, I wonder if the account got banned as well. It could be the same person I suppose.

I bet this is the same guy from China who was selling those hhkbs a couple days ago using other seller's pictures. His name was 0294790 with zero feedback.

These guys look like total scammers and I wouldn't go anywhere near these listings.

I listed it as fraudulent auction because of the other activities of this seller, but it could also be that the images are stolen and the seller has this keyboard. I've had this case in the past with a nice rare valuable Cherry keyboard.

This is the exact reason I watermark my eBay images. Although it's not really my responsibility if someone uses my photos fraudulently, I don't want to make it easy for scammers (or even legit but lazy sellers).

The stolen images are coupled with 0 feedback, which is a big red flag.

You would be crazy to bid on this, but then again what if it goes off for $25. On the off chance it turns out to be real and you save hundreds.... but then again what are the chances of it being real. Seller with 0 feedback and stolen photos. Do you guys report suspect listings. I know the Rolex forum have a watch out section where they group report and most of the time suspect listings get removed.  :thumb:

These sellers aren't that uncommon. They find some specialty field where money flows and make one account dedicated to that.

I remember one account with under 10 positive ratings that listed something like 5 pairs of hi-fi Tannoy speakers. The speakers that were there were really heavy duty stuff. Seller was from Hong Kong but he had really made the effort to make his listings to look like plausible deals. All the pictures were from local Hi-Fi store and he had listed real ship freight rates of real local company and had even added the costs of manufacturing custom freight crate for every item. The listings sold for about 60-70% of the market price and he got something like 10 000$. Couple months later his account was full of negative feedback and banned. One of the buyers had been idiot enough to leave positive feedback right after the auction had ended for "good deal", probably didn't get any money back.

I found a similar one a few years ago for music studio equipment. A price seemed too good, and the seller had a rating of 10 for buying items about $1 each. And then 2 ratings for selling expensive gear. The accounts that bought the expensive gear from the guy, each had the same rating from buying 10 cheap items and selling/buying 2 expensive ones. I eventually tracked down about 25 accounts, all linked this way, all 10+2 rating, all rating each other. I reported the items to ebay and most were removed but they never shut down the accounts until the ratings went very negative, which after they sold a few $500 items they all did.

I also noticed this seller has other keyboard related things for sale (5 total). Not a single one were photographed in the same place. I bet they are all 'stolen' pictures from other auctions or google.

Well, we did list every copied auction here in this thread.

I'd encourage everyone to report the SSK at least.   The other auctions are going to be less money, but someone might get seriously screwed on the SSK.

Like most of us on GH I regularly browse Ebay for deals, myself a regular Topre keyboard (HHKB, RF etc.) looker. One day I was shocked to see my RF 55gUB on Ebay for sale as 45gUB for market used value. I contacted the seller that was also a GH member and said "WTF" that's totally wrong. He reponded that he was sorry and was at work and wanted to get his ad up for sale and got a pic off the web, my picture (from Post your Topre thread). He changed his ad with his actual Realforce picture. How did I know it was my 55g not 45g black? I'm a Mac user and put 5 HHKB Mac mod keys on it. He made an honest but dumb error, no harm no foul IMHO. But buyer beware like the old saying " if its To Good True" be carefull.

It's one thing to use someone else's image for a listing. I can overlook that in certain cases. But when combined with 0 feedback, it looks extremely suspicious, in my opinion.

They are also posting all the listings on alternate accounts as well, and sadly this g710+ is getting bids, as well as what could be shill bids.
