inquiring taihao about producing cherry profile keycaps

their reply is that its technically possible
but there are too many standard of keycap profile within cherry products (i think they do not understand the definition of cherry profile among ourselves)

other than the enter key, all of their keycaps should be able to be produced in cherry profile

so if possible, can someone provide me one specification of cherry profile keycaps?
so that we can produced cherry profile taihao keycaps next time  :p

It has been nearly 5 months since last IC
New products and colour of taihao keycaps has poped up

Actually the photobucket ones have already loaded for me.  It is the GH attachments that won't load.

I have wget running in a separate window trying to download one of them - it is up to its 17th try still without luck.

I can see the photobucket ones, just not the ones hosted on GH.

Earlier today I could see the GH ones - for a few fleeting moments the forum was running well.  There are problems, mkawa is looking in to it.

Is it 500 MOQ per color or could you mix and match getting to MOQ with multiple sets?

Recently manufactured TH keycap samples with two-tone style: red on white and blue on white

76310-0

76312-1

Watching closely, the color of white keycap would be white with ivory or light ivory rather than pure white.
For blue one, I prefer to this kind of blue color because it is similar to RAINDROP.

I already voted, but I just realized that there are simply too many color choices to have a meaningful result.

Most likely the winning color will only have ~10 more votes than the 5th popular color and so on...

In my opinion you should eliminate the color options from your current GB and Elton's first Tai Hao GB and those that are pretty similar like either purple or sakura (I'd keep sakura because purple is readily available on originative).

Maybe we can do it like how they decide which city to hold the Olympics - hold a round 2/3 vote among those which are the most popular from the previous round.  ;D

is it necessary? sets are at good price trough gb, he should run them all, I know ill order 1 of each for sure.

EDIT: I would choose one between sakura and purple cause they are very similar and give the free space to Pink when the GB starts, just an opinion. Its time for TH Manly Unicorn set  :-*

You mean 1 of each in an eventual group buy where you have 4 to choose from, or 1 of each in the poll where there are over 10 options?

(just wondering how fanatical geekhackers are about their keycaps)

In any case I am not putting in an order again, but stand ready to help out with a max of 4 purchases should the usual [insert unflattering adjectives of your choice] folks back out.

so you think if they are many options its unlikely for them to reach moq because people cant decide and a lot of them back out? we can have the same scenario even with 1 set running in the gb, I was just saying the colors look nice, very vibrant, chance to create somewhat handerbeit replica from TH, and prices are way better then any where else there is TH sale + we have the extra keys that no one has. Price is just too good and looks like it will be much better this time because these are not 2 tones, 1 tone color + some of them wont require reaching high moq cause they have been in production already and they have left overs.

It makes all the sense to run GB for all the colors they are popular, and if someone backs out like what happened in the last GB, well there is nothing we can do.... only thing to do is hope that it wont happen again.

Everything you said made sense, except for this line.

Reneging on group buy commitments is probably the most common grouse on geekhack.

then maybe we should do the most favorable colors in 2 gb, since they are 6 we should do 3 colors per each GB. was thinking for all 6 since you pay shipping once, price is right and sets look nice. We should leave it up to OP to decide.

theres much to be learnt by me....

especially at how to handle paypal...

i think it will be safe to get 3 colours at the first round, just like the dolch taihao round

as long as we have finish gathering order of the first 3 colour in a short period of time, we can move forward to next stage like last time
the main reason we had to vote again only because it has been too long since last poll

things might have changed rite? :p

I doubt, youll get the same response because those are the only colors that never went into any sort of GB here, expect the same results. I wish pink/salmon made the vote.... But maybe we can have pink/salmon and Classic set with black legends in the 4th GB if ur not burned out offcourse, Classic is same as the one we have now, just black legends, highly doable :)

Didn't vote: nice colors, not so nice plastic.
Hey manufacturers, listen up: we prefer PBT and POM keycaps!
Nice colors alone is not enough for me to consider purchasing a keycap set.
Quality, in my view, comes first and looks second.

you do realize the price of the sets and the extra layouts that comes with them right? SP DCS is just about same as TH, and set like this would cost you around $100-$120 for the same set that TH has for us at GB price of around $17-18....

I have 5 sets from the 1st GB and quality of the keys are amazing, not GMK but SP standard of quality, cant beat it for the price and layout expandability, tons of mix and match options!!!! Sorry u missed out on the first gb

Quality, in my view, comes first and looks second.

What makes you think you can speak for every keyboard enthusiast out there?

On Geekhack you'll find just as many people who prefer ABS as there are people who prefer PBT.

In the end it's just personal preference...

As most people should know, I am a big supporter of Harry's TaiHao group buys.

I believe this is the best value for money keycaps there is. Simple as that.

If you want to spend $1000 on a set of keycaps, you could get Scarface metal. Great quality; they'll probably keep for long past your death.

You'll also spend, what, 30-40 times as much for Tai Hao.

Tai Hao ABS and Signature Plastics ABS - what's the difference? As a guy who has ploughed through thousands of SP keycaps in the past few months (see my selling thread in classifieds; I'm not thick skinned enough to link directly.) I don't believe SP is any superior to Tai Hao.

If you really want to buy SP, I recommend buying their SA profile. These are really solid keycaps. Otherwise SP DCS is no better than TH.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

Didn't vote: nice colors, not so nice plastic.
Hey manufacturers, listen up: we prefer PBT and POM keycaps!
Nice colors alone is not enough for me to consider purchasing a keycap set.

Sorry, I spoke for myself.
I do realize that you may go with whatever you desire, why not?
And relax, please, will you? you seem kind of "jumpy" to me.

LOVE Sakura.  Sakura with Toxic Green font - or at least Apple Green (I know it's not possible, just saying!) would have been amazing....

are also inquiring taihao about producing cherry profile keycaps

their reply is that its technically possible
but there are too many standard of keycap profile within cherry products (i think they do not understand the definition of cherry profile among ourselves)

other than the enter key, all of their keycaps should be able to be produced in cherry profile

so if possible, can someone provide me one specification of cherry profile keycaps?
so that we can produced cherry profile taihao keycaps next time  :p

btw for new colours, there will be a need of 500 MOQ for production or otherwise the price will be much higher :)

Is there anywhere that we can see the results of this poll?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Harry then maybe we should do the 3 colors that are common and just add the orange and hope that the Orange will meet moq? we already have the purple and we should leave the purple alike for the next GB and stick with the orange, orange seems lot popular and might hit 500 MOQ.

Is it very unlikely that the extras will include a Tsangan layout and a 6.5x spacebar as the G710+ has an irregular bottom layout :/
