I've managed 12 MB/s down on Steam before on some seriously good cable. I've since been bumped down and am now at 3-5 MB/s.

Amazing thing is I can still browse the web, youtube, and use other devices in the house and it seems unaffected. DSL would cripple all other sources apart from the main download.

Still, I remember the good old days when 4 KB/s was quite decent. I still get pretty worked up when I see 3+ MB/s download speeds. My mind is blown each time.

I don't even notice Steam slowing my connect, the only thing that really slows it is when I'm dl'ing with utorrent.

Usually around 10-12 MB/s down.  Can't complain.

This is around my peak. Maybe a bit higher on good days. It's not terrible but I could use so much faster.

You can probably sign up for a business connection for something like $80 if they don't offer residential plans faster than 2MB/s

Nope not at my current place. I have the fastest they will offer me for DSL. Cable isn't an option. While it's theoretically available at my place, when I tired it they weren't ever able to make it work better than like 32kbps so it was like using dial up in 1995.
