MX Japanese keycaps?
« on: Mon, 20 October 2014, 10:24:55 »
Does anyone know where I might find Japanese Cherry MX keycaps? I would prefer just Japanese legends with no english (probably doesn't exist), but I wouldn't mind a Japanese/English set. I've looked around, but I haven't found any separate sets besides Topre. Looking for ANSI, but all I've seen on Google so far are ISO sets that come stock on boards.

Has anyone ever seen a Japanese set in ANSI layout? If not, anyone know if it's possible to use the alphas from an ISO set on an ANSI board, and have everything covered/fit right?

Boards:
Silver 84-key KMAC LE, 62g lubed & stickered ergo-clears, GON NerD PCB, polycarbonate plate,MX lock/Phosphorglow IBM Model M SSK 1391472/White HHKB Pro 2, Hasu controller/WKL Phantom, 50g vintage blacks, MX lock
Leeku G80-1800 (build in progress)

There are some ANSI US MX keycaps on elitekeyboards, haven't seen japanese yet though.

I'll keep looking.

Probably need to check japanese websites, I am not finding anything.

Thanks for the reply!  ;D

I have a few english/blank ANSI keycap sets already, but I like the look of the Japanese characters on the keys, so I was hoping I could find a Japanese set for looks. Same idea as the Russian Miami set I suppose?

I forgot to mention I don't like UV/pad printing because it wears.

Appreciate the help with my search!  :thumb:

Here you go:

http://www.diatec.co.jp/shop/det.php?prod_c=1476

Don't know if it is what you want, but I found some JP keys so. :)

Scroll down, the first pics only show US keys.
I haven't translated the website or searched past that, but I bet you can find them on there... not sure. :)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I might have to look through Japanese sites and use a proxy to order.

I would love to see a group buy for an English/Japanese set one day!

Yeah, I am even interested in a set myself.

I need to start speaking japanese more often so I can knock off some rust and get fluent. :)

Here is the link on deskthority that provided the link I posted above:

This was a year ago and the people in the comment are talking about group buys too. :)

That's a good idea, I will have to think about it. I've never designed a keyset before though.

I think the ANSI 104 set is only English. The 108 set is the Japanese ISO layout. Too bad I don't have any ISO boards to put it on.

I wonder if enough people here would actually want a Japanese ANSI keyset.. something to think about. I'm probably too new around here to be organizing group buys though.

Nice!

But I guess you won't launch it until the BlackOnBlack dyesubs are sorted and shipped right? And I guess this will be a while....

I'm definitely interested in a set! Any idea on the colours yet? I love the look of your Miami Odessa set.

There was IC thread here... since I still haven't moved on the full sets I suppose can just talk about choices further there still. Feel free to suggest fonts, colors, etc.
