New mechanism enthusiast here
« on: Mon, 20 October 2014, 10:59:49 »
Hi there,

I'm pksk, a new mech enthusiast! I've been using laptops & rubber domes forever and recently a Bluetooth keyboard for phones (on my PC). Recently I felt the need to get a new keyboard  and stumbled upon mechanical boards. Now for some reason I don't fully understand I'm infatuated by these devices! Regardless, here I am.

Glad a member of this community!

EDIT: Wow, I meant "mech" enthusiast in the subject line /herp

Welcome to Geekhack!

Like many others, you are discovering that there is a whole world of keyboard possibilities that you did not even know existed before.

Prepare your wallet! :p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
