Hi there,
I've been lurking a while, trying to get as much info as possible.  Thanks for the great resource.  I've had been using Thinkpads since the 90's but switched last year to a Macbook, and just recently realized that the Mac's keyboard is making my fingers hurt. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

If you don't mind me asking, what about the Mac keyboards aren't good?  I'm just curious.  Never owned a Mac and I'd probably just waist my money by wiping the HDD and installing Linux.

The recent MacBooks have very short key travel, even shorter than the low-profile desktop keyboards. Is that it?

yup, low key travel. you have to completely change the way you type to make it more comfortable (and sacrifice speed)

Don't worry about it...I've cleaned that up.  It's a known issue and the admins are working on it.

In as much as I miss my MacBook Pro...I don't miss the pains my fingers would get from typing on it.   I always used a QFR with it while at my desk.  Sadly I no longer had the laptop when my 60% was completed...I imagine that would have been awesome though.

Have you ever typed on an HP laptop before? I did for over two years and, not only is the travel very short, but the amount of force required to actuate each key is ridiculously light. It's almost like typing on a keyboard hologram--virtually no tactile feedback whatsoever sans bottoming-out. Because of it, I can't really type on heavy switches. Hell, even Browns feel heavy for me.
