IA meetup hosted by Melvang and Alexiss aka Mrs. Melvang
« on: Sat, 01 November 2014, 01:18:13 »
Alright peeps.  I am planning on a meetup at my place in late March / early April.  Going to plan for this being on a Saturday with a possible bon fire at my parent's place.  Details to follow.

There will be one custom piece that the wife has requested a partial NDA for a custom piece that will be done by then.  At least for a bit.  It will be brought to KeyCon Chicago as well.

For those wanting to get a good rough estimate on travel time if commuting by car get driving directions to University of Northern Iowa.  If coming from the west it would be about another 10 to 15 minutes, and if coming from the east about 10 to 15 minutes less.

I'm probably in. Hard to know what my work schedule will be like next year but I'm pretty sure I can still have a flexible schedule.

Awesome.  If you are flying the airports get much more expensive as you get closer to Waterloo.  In order from most expensive to least is Waterloo (10 minutes or so), Cedar Rapids (hour), then Quad Cities (about 2 and a half hours).  There is also the Des Moines airport about 2 hours away.

Not to be a negative nancy, but isn't Keycon Chicago effectively this time, too?  I know it's a more generic Spring 2015 atm, but it seems like a there might be fragmentation.

Of course, maybe only CBA and I are the ones crazy enough to go to both and Keycon East.

Yeah I think it would be great to see more dates firm up. Sounds like the three meetups are fighting for timeslots in spring/summer.

I'm totally in, assuming I'm free.

And me.  ;)

Same here. I'm in for now, but that's tentative due to work/class. Usually, my Spring Break is around that time, so I'm hoping I'd be able to be free.

It's only an 18 hour drive. I'll consider it for sure.

Probably won't be able to go, however.

I could mix this in with that extended Iowa vacation that I have been hoping to take for years.  I just love farm fields right before planting season (sarcasm).

But put me down as a maybe for now.
Wish I had some gif or quote for this space, but I got nothing
