What keyboard would you pick up if you traveled to Japan?
« on: Sun, 06 March 2011, 16:07:03 »
May have a chance to travel to Japan a bit later this year and was wondering which keyboards everyone here would want to buy?

I'd like to get a general idea of what to be looking for, and I'd really hate to miss some real gems just because I didn't know to look for them.
Filco Tenkeyless "Otaku" (Blue), Leopold Tenkeyless "Otaku" (Brown), Leopold Tenkeyless (Blue), Goldtouch GTC-0077 Numeric Pad (Brown)
In the mail: HHKB Pro2 White/Gray

WTB: G80-8113HRBUS-2 with Clear switches

If that's a real realforce, I'd agree. I like ugly & quirky. If there were pink HHKBs, I'd already have one.
Current collection: HHKB Pro 2 black on black, HHKB Pro 2 white/grey blank, [strike]Dell AT101W[/strike] (sold to SirClickAlot), 1992 Model M, Key Tronic Ergoforce KT 2001, BTC 5100 C. Dead boards: MS Natural Elite, MS Natural 4000.

I have always wanted one!
If you live in AZ you can try my keyboards. I usually keep plenty of different ALPS and MX and buckling springs.

sorry for interrupting, but RF108G-Tune is really an interesting keyboard.  For your kind information, tts keycaps are laser engraved + coating that makes it feel quite different from the ordinary Topres you can find in north America.  I personally like the ordinary Topre keycaps better, but I would say the feel of G-Tune is very interesting and it deserves a try.

If budget is not a major concern, Japanese keyboard is still the best choice.

Does any one know what a low range for a realforce in Japan should be?  Looking at Amazon.co.jp, prices seem comparable to the US (If accounting for shipping).  HHKB Pro 2 are about $250, and so are 103UB's.  Does anyone know of a store or online shop that has Topre boards around 15,000 Yen?
Keyboards:
Filco 104 MX Brown (Otaku) - FKBN104M/NPEK 黒い空
Ducky TKL MX Brown/Blue 80% (White) - 1087-F 白の空
KBC Poker MX Red with PBT Key Caps - PFCN6000

You do know that alot of these "used panties" were actually worn by guys and then sold as used by school girls yah? Have you seen the vids? I gotta dig for them. Funny ****. Well, funny if you're not into buying used panties from vending machines and rather get real ones on your own.

If I remember well they were available at The Keyboard Company on October of 2010.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on one since it was a very limited run.

My vote goes also to  91UBY

My years 20 old theory says that "a yellow thing, usually, works better"

As a second choice I would go for a Majestouch Mini

It's just a filco, but is nice looking, and has a decent layout.

I've a couple of the ilovex model. Will put up a review soon. Only got a chance to use it recently. haven't had the time and i've been testing other boards.  it's really quite an awesome keyboard. And looks a LOT better in person (in keyboard, whichever). The caps themselves are sub-dyed (Rigs, do not even bother to argue about this with me. So damn sick of your mannerisms, it's not even funny.) but they feel very very different. I do not know how to explain it. It's like they have a rubber coating on it. They feel really good. i'm not sure if this is how RF caps are gonna be from now on til i get my cap sets from Japan. But if this is how the new sets of caps are gonna feel. They are worth every penny. The board itself is variable. No DIP switches and the lights are blue. It is also screw-less from what I can tell. Anyway, here's a pic. More details later on. Cheers.
