God bless bugmenot.com - allowing me to vociferate my wisdom without having to fill in forms since time immortal.

Disappointed not see more Topres on that list. As we all know and agree, Topres are the best keyboards, especially in ANSI layout.

Well, I certainly wouldn't mind taking Xarmor off the list.  Pretty embarrassing to the product category.

LMAO

XArmor is to keyboards what 20$ Knock Off Rolex' is to watches.

To XArmor's credit, they made pretty "realistic" replicas since they were able to fool both Solutor and Tom's Hardware experts.

I got fooled too... Not for long though.

I'm starting to get tired of this people on the internet stealing pics and gifs from Geekhack members and not even giving thanks.

What OCN did with Lethal Squirrels was stupid. Now In too many forums I have to correct everyone and link the original Thread here on Geekhack and say that the gifs are from him, same happens with a lot of your pics Ripster.

Yeah, if I hadn't been a stinker at OCN they wouldn't have given Lethal Squirrel attribution.

I'm quite good at being a stinker as Kalyrh points out.

Do they keep your watermarks on each picture?

Marco (a member here) has a much better one at HotHardware.  I used to just link to it before making the Geekhack Mechanical Keyboard Guide.

http://hothardware.com/cs/blogs/mrtg/archive/2009/03/08/mechanical-key-switch-keyboards-demystified.aspx

Excluding keyboards just because they are USB only in the review is stupid and the conclusion to Tom's Hardware article is no conclusion.

Plus it would have helped if Igor was a native English writer.

Thanks for the mention, Ripster.  I'm planning to put together an update to that piece that'll feature my Topre boards, and Cherry Clears and Reds, but funds are tight at the moment and I haven't been able to purchase the boards I need (going to get a Deck with Clears and a Filco with Reds).

If anyone has any input or would like to see something featured, let me know and I'll do the best I can to get it in there.

I upvoted your comment there ripster. I was actually kind of surprised that the majority of the comments on this article were generally people who already knew these kinds of boards and were pointing out inaccuracies and mentioning boards that weren't mentioned. I was expecting it to be more along the lines of "my $200 logitech board with a LCD screen is clearly the best keyboard of all time" for the majority of posts.

Lol - they took the animated Cherry MX GIF artwork from OCN which took it from Geekhack's Lethal Squirrel.

No attribution.

Plus I suspect they might have read a few Geekhack wikis.

Disappointed they only did a "Theoretical" USB vs PS/2 analysis.  No oscilloscopes.  No realworld testing of Windows 7 overhead.

At least they didn't fall for the Blue Cherry MX OCN Hysteresis Hysteria.

And no favorite?  Clearly trying to please all the advertisers.

Saw this post yesterday figured it couldn't hurt to pass the info on toms.  Sent them a message

"A person (ripster) on geekhack noticed you gave credit to the wrong person on your gifs on your 5 mechanical keyboard review. Thought I would send it your way so you could fix it. Overclocker.net did not make the mx gifs Geekhack's Lethal Squirrel did.
Here's the link if you want o check http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?14802-Cherry-GIFs"

Got this back today

"Thx for this interesting information, OCN has written, we could have "stolen" this content from OCN. Nice to know.
This article is a translation from German (original), I will send this information to our US guys to correct the credit.

The original is now correct ;)
http://www.tomshardware.de/Mechanische-Tastaturen-Theorie-Praxis-Guide,testberichte-240784-2.html
(see on bottom)

Sorry for my crappy English

Igor"

Figured I would share the info glad to see the right person get credit

Does the flat key layout bugs you?
I think it's great for gaming and as far as ergonomics, it's no issue for me.
Some here think this design is an insult to the modern era. I don't agree.

The Deck's flatness doesn't bother me at all but I mostly game on it and I'm not really a typist. One thing I will say...superb quality and no ping to be heard at all.

just wallowed my way through an extended lurk and felt the need to post : THG was somewhere I used to go to for real guidance Back In The Day™ : its sad seeing them rehash other peoples work with attributation; even wikipedia tries to be better than that.

I figured the article was just a dressed up piece of fluff for BlackWidow promotion seeing as razer are trying really hard (well, with marketing, it'd be nice if they made a decent ****ing keyboard) but when I read "disadvantages : hard to read lettering" I... really? you want to talk about serious keyboard,s but dont review any, you steal other peoples hard work, and even OCNs ****ups, and then you taint your high-functioning-tech-people review by basically telling us we're all still looking down to type.

It makes me sad inside to read this crap.

Oh, and Hi. De-lurking after reading on and off for a couple of years. (which is odd, because I dont lurk anywhere else)
