TVS Gold (Cherry Blue) [Ebay UK] - £19 shipped [DO NOT BUY]
« on: Fri, 01 June 2012, 01:00:41 »
In light of the posts below, I've removed the link, and I'd advise people to hold off, and I'll play guinea-pig, and see what arrives. Anything like the pictures posted, and I'll create a world of hurt for him in feedback, and bad word of mouth - I've had some nasty KB's in my time, but that's truly disgusting. In light of the Listing description ("Professionally Clean"), then I should be bomb-proof with a dispute.

I'll update the thread to reflect whatever condition I get them in, with pictures.

EDIT:-

Having now received the board, DO NOT BUY FROM THE SELLER "FOTONZZ".
Dirty, smelly, greasy. Substitute keycaps that sit lower than. The first time I've seen a truly worn out Cherry switch, and the casing is shinier from wear than if I'd tried to polish it with a dremel. Avoid at all costs, not even worth it for switch harvesting.

Rubbish seller, attempted to buy two of these the first the seller refunded the sale. Second time the seller waited two weeks after the sale to say that he had no stock even after he had marked it as posted.

Other people have purchased these and have said the caps and stems are very worn.

Edit:
Thought it was the same seller it may not be BUT they are using the same images as the seller I had issues with.

He'll be getting a dispute then, for either. If he want's to play silly, I'll make sure his feedback percentage gets pulled down sharply. Given his sales numbers, it won't take much.

EDIT:-

I'll post here when I receive it. I've been after one for a while, but have been let down every time I go to get one... Hopefully this turns up and is usable.

Pictures don't do them justice, they had a strange chemical sticky coating on them.  Bin bag, hands washed, bin.

If you want blue switches buy new, these would only be worth it if you wanted springs and were that desperate.

I've updated the Title, and removed the link. I'll wait and see what arrives. I expect a bit of wear, but if they show up in a crappy condition, then I'll be filing a dispute so fast it'll make the sellers head spin.

I experienced something similar as dirge. The crook seller was bpvala, he refunded after cancelling the deal. The reason was that the shipping cost was too much for him. I bought a TVS Gold and a HCL Diamond.
His English was also unintelligible at times. A plague, indeed.

If he's a registered business as before he's bound by distance selling law. He'll have to forward the return shipping costs.

Looks like the same guy, so don't worry. You're not dealing with a genius!  Open a case and follow the rules.

Well, it arrived, and it's not good.

The cursor keys are totally worn. No printing at all remains, and the areas around them on the casing is worn smooth too. The "R" keycap appears to be from a different board entirely (it sits lower). The switches appear to be totally worn, no tactility at all, and most certainly no "click" to them, which my G80-3000 has.

Although it's been cleaned to a degree, it's obvious that this board has been used in a greasy environment... it stinks.

I'll keep the board, but purely to mod/hack up/mess about with. It will be getting attacked with strong cleaners, but that in itself will be useful to see what ones play nicely with the plastic the board is made from.

Avoid this seller... "fotonzz"
You will not get a decent quality board. I base this opinion on what I have in my hands, and what other people have received. I'll put up some pictures later.

My gut feeling is that this saw heavy use doing booking/ordering some kind of restaurant. It would explain the grease and smell perfectly. If the seller *stated* this, and dropped theprice a little, I doubt it would be an issue. As it is, it's about to get split open and dropped into a container full of isopropyl to see if I can shift the grease.

I got mine through today as well and it's about the same story, it certainly doesn't seem to have been "professionally cleaned." Half the keyboard is using different keycaps that sit lower than the rest and the spacebar is really stiff, presumably because it wasn't meant to be on this board. I've never owned a mechanical keyboard before to judge the switches' condition but the commonly used keys have lost any resistance or click before they're fully depressed. From what I can barely feel on the less worn keys I think I can judge how it should be and it's a bit depressing.

I'm not really an enthusiast and I have more appropriate rectangles to prop my doors open with so I suppose I'll be heading over to the resolution centre to try to get a refund :/

edit: ebay's thing suggesting I contact the seller first which would clearly be a waste of time, especially since he's already down as not accepting returns. Could someone more familiar with ebay wranglings point me in the right direction

Contact the seller, detailing every problem, individually. Be firm that this is unacceptable (Cleanliness especially considering the claim of a Pro Cleaning). At no point does it mention that caps from a different board have been substituted (Mine are R and left CTRL) or that this board isn't just used, but totally worn out.

You shouldn't have a any problems. If You want a total refund, then do not accept anything less. If you accept an offer of partial recompense, that's it. If he refuses, or gets nasty, just get straight onto the resolution centre.

Leave negative feedback, before. this can be removed later if needs be, through Ebay themselves. Most useful for getting your point of view across.

I know I'm posting a lot in sequence. I'll tidy it up when it's all done with.

It must be the same seller. His English is nearly unintelligible.

The closed square-bracket key is sticking, and he wants to give a partial refund, minus shipping, after I pay to ship the board back (at my cost).
He's also claiming the grease is a "proffesnal coating material".

I've told him his only option is for a total refund (I really don't want the damn thing, I can pick up better elsewhere), including postage both ways if he wants the bloody thing back. Should I take his option, I get £6 back for the board, but pay that to ship the damn board back to him, so I'm out £19 and no board? Yeah... that's not happening.

Trouble is, I will now be wary of any TVS board that appears on ebay uk with even a hint of dodgy spelling or grammar, given that he is known to change accounts.

Do science to it.
Ohwait, let me say that again

[evil voice]We shall perform science on it![/evilvoice]

harvest the switches, and see if you can resuscitate them. Sell the switch bottoms, try RIT dye on the keycaps, See how much fire it'll take. Retr0brite it until it cracks. Take it to the torsion chamber. The possibilities are limitless!

Leave the poor keyboard alone. The science should be tried on that crook seller.

The poor keyboard is past caring.

Got the refund, now... I think I've forgotten how to change feedback to positive... whoops.

I'm glad you have gotten your money back from this seller, man I feel bad for posting a thread about these boards in the first place. Hope this thread remains as a reminder to people. Too many have waisted time and money on this seller and his terrible boards.

No need to feel bad, I found the seller independently of this site, and posted here myself!

As it is, I'll reiterate for anyone that has not got the grasp of this yet.

DO NOT BUY FROM "FOTONZZ", you will get a greasy, worn, smelly, mismatched pile of steaming crap.
