You must have some pretty magic USB adapter. Mine never had an impact on how fast or slow the mouse is. Linux handles acceleration quite nicely once you tweak around with it right.

Heavens, every PS/2 pointing device I've used on WIndows has unique sensitivity that changes per adapter type. Logitech Trackman FX, TG3 trackpads, SCCI Trackball, IBM-logo mice, MS-logo mice, random OEM mice, they all behave differently with different USB adapters. It's downright irritating.

I made some pretty extensive use of that old PS/2 mouse. It's usable if you crank the settings up. Main problems are that it's rather unergonomic. I might just leave it the way it is and not bother with the optical upgrade.

You wouldn't be the first to have considered such a mod, ch...I was looking at doing it but I didn't want to sacrifice one (their value is only likely to climb as time passes; in some regards it's a significant piece of computer history).

Ooh, I like the new button setup, but you didn't braid the wires. I'm disappointed. The new button mod is a lot smaller, but now it looks like you have one ball bigger than the other.

I thought History required greater than normal reading comprehension skills? As mentioned IN THE POST I'm not done with the wiring since I'm still experimenting.

Your ItlnStln-post-reading-order logic failed (I read the forum from the bottom-up, except for the Keyboards forum, which I always read last). I read this one, then the mod post.

Then again, my Ripster-post-posting-logic may have failed, too.

I would have said something about nasty, deviant, sexual acts, but I'm not Webwit, and you live in California, so it wouldn't bother you as much, anyway.

More Pointing Device awesomeness from those crazy Brits on Ebay.

Microsoft Windows mentioned in another thread that he likes mousing on his dog. Thanks for reminding me to look for one of these MW!

Cracking line.

P.S. Over here pants means underwear, not trousers.

Doctor, My Balls Are Glowing.

He told me to stop putting my keyboard on my lap (or was it my cellphone in my pocket?).

That's a Glowing Tux on the bottom key. You have to kinda use your imagination. The glowing red LED (a two color LED) on the CST LaserTrak is a DPI indicator - for some unknown reason it was originally stuck on the PCB where you couldn't really see it.
