Why no suitable for hard smackdowns?
Why no suitable for hard smackdowns?
Because the buttons are now closer to the shell.. It's more easy to trigger them..
I've seen some players (back in the day) 2003-ish @ lans, where they move the mouse a long distance, then pick it up "quite high" into the air, and drop it back down...

Good point. That mouse looks retro though it is new.

I really think it's Logitech's homage to the WMO..
I mean.. the shell design is almost identical except it's got a narrow butt-area
The way the top shell is attached, via a 3 piece plastic hooks..
The freedom of the button flaps..
If you look at the mouse horizontally, it's exactly like the wmo but not as Tall-Fat..

I agree, certainly looks that way. Crap, now I want one.

But honestly, If you already haz a billion computer mice.. You prolly don't need more..

Anywayz... that weight advantage is huge. What's the weight of the original wmo again?

This is Switch modded, Wheel lubed, Thick feet, Mx-Spring loaded.
But, Don't get a G100s, just because some random internet guy says so..
Gotta think about your playstyle first.. Tp4 = Lazy, I just don't like moving heavy things around.. I play at medium-high sensitivity 1200 to 2400 depending on the game..
I like the G100s mostly because I can easily move it with just my fingers, so it feels like I have an extra degree of fine precision..
So I still use my arms for wider movements, but for sniping I can rely on just my fingers, and the mouse is light enough that it will respond..

How is the laser on the G100s? I've had weird tracking issues with the G300s.
As far as no thrills mice go I have my eye on a Corsair KATAR. Though the G700s is extremely tantalizing. My Deathadder is five years old and is really showing its wear and I don't play enough video games anymore to really make $70 for a mouse worthwhile.

Mouser.com --legit-- supplier.. Ebay haz counterfeits/fakes
If you're decide on D2F .. Get 25 at a time... You won't use them all, but considering they charge $5 shipping.. You may as well..

Get a soldering PUMP. this will save you alot of headache throughout ur soldering career.. Spring loaded, don't use the rubber ball ones.
If this is just for keyboard and mouse, you don't need expensive soldering gear if you're not doing large volumes.
I'd recommend a soldering iron in the $30 range, if you intend on soldering well into the future..
the $8-15 irons, break more often..
Solder, anything 63/37 (leaded) will work.. 0.5-0.8mm thickness.. You don't have to get name brand..
If you've never soldered before, don't get unleaded solder, you'll prolly overheat the pcb traces, because unleaded doesn't melt/flow as easily at low heat.
I also have a G100s and a few G100 (both got the middle double click issue damnit)
and yes they are damn light, using it for my download rig, dont think i will ever use them for anything gaming wise...

What's the middle double click issue? That the latency is too short and you occasionally double click?
nope, the middle scroll wheel click will cause double clicks.... i normally see double clicks on the two right or left buttons, but then in my case, all my mice's double clicks are at the middle scrollwheel.... which is irritating and irks me >:D >:D

That's very annoying. I must say that nowadays I find middle mouse buttons sucking almost always. So I've just stopped using them. Even on my Avior 7000 which has not side scroll (which is usually better for mmb feel / performance).

I replaced all 4 with weeaboo omrons.. so yes, can replace..
But at this point, there's only been MYTH surrounding WHY the double clicking occurs.. No one has definitively found the root Cause...
Some people think it's static build up "in the switches" (prolly not), some people think it's poor quality parts, (this is def not the case), I looked at the soldering, it's wonderful.. Lead solder.. shiny joints, everything is peachy..
Yea man, the middle mouse button sucks so hard... cant they make decent ones for once.... since they go all ahoy with gaming and whatnot...

Good one tp, I cant accomplish what you did with those switch replacement as I dont have what it takes for me to pull such feat off (no skills + no tools = get new mouse)
there are 2 types of Omrons that I know of, one is of "crispier" clicks and lighter, faster response, while another one is harder, and "duller" clicks, the one you using, D2F-01F is which one?
I personally like the lighter one, my Strix Claw is using that one I suppose...
I see... then mine should be the weaboo switch then, but though they deteriorate faster, i still prefer them XD

The D2FC-7N is the stock standards in almost every mice.
They have less travel distance, and produce a higher pitch click sound.
The D2F-01F is the weeaboo counterpart, they have slightly more travel +0.2mm
They also make a lower pitch sound..
They're both -crisp-.. but I've noticed that on the D2FC-7N, the tactility weakens more quickly..
I have the old ball-mouse microsoft intellimouse which has all D2F-01F, and the tactility in that is still strong, this mouse survived my childhood, when I believed I could do more damage if I CLICKED HARDER, so, it's been through much-abuse..Show Image(http://emoticoner.com/files/emoticons/onion-head/sweating-onion-head-emoticon.gif?1292862522)

only the ducky secret -as of late, has the d2f-01f.
I'm not sure it's an issue of cost.. I think it's just because the d2fc-7n has less travel

On a side note, what is you guys' grip style? Mine is palm + claw hybrid, that is also one of the main reason why I can't use those "ergonomic" mice and mice that has ****loads of side buttons
same here, whenever I game, be it FPS or RTS or MOBA, I will claw the mouse and movement involves often lifting off the mouse and put down again, only the wrist part is having contact with the table surface or mousepad.

For me it's fingertip / claw hybrid. I've tried palm, but when there is really action going on like in an FPS game, it feels way to relaxed. Actually, true palm grip even gives me some pain in the wrist.

I can palm for a little. But when things get tense I get nervous in an FPS game and I immediately adjust my grip accordingly. So palm only works for casually walking around in a game.
In illustrator when drawing things, palm also doesn't really work well. Like what you say: I'm not able to make precise movement or adjustment.

Any idea what the Avior 7000 comes with? I'm curious what switch I have under mah hands now..
Omron d2fc-7n
I'm starting to become convinced the quality has slipped on the d2fc-7n.
The last 5 mice I had with them had progressively shorter and shorter lifespans. My latest G700s is going to Logitech for warranty after only 9 months of use and I specifically tried to go easy on it. I used to get double that from them before they started double clicking.
Double clicking is an indication that the leaf spring has weakened, don't let anyone (including Logitech support) tell you it may just need the dust blown out, this is a common problem with these switches, so much so that Gigabyte made a gaming mouse with user replaceable switches (no soldering iron needed). Aggressive clicking or even just a firm press can damage them. The Japanese Omrons use a much better, longer lasting leaf spring compared to the cheaper Chinese models, which are probably only marginally better than some of the alternatives.
Details on Omron switches matter a LOT, they make a LOT of switches that are all labeled D2F, look identical and fit our mice.

I have not yet had this issue with my Avior 7000 (which apparently features the same switch). But I have had it with EVERY logitech mouse I have EVER owned. I don't understand why, but they all eventually start to do this (for me).

Details on Omron switches matter a LOT, they make a LOT of switches that are all labeled D2F, look identical and fit our mice.
Most mouse manufacturers use a Chinese switch made with a silver alloy spring, which is inferior to Japanese made with a gold alloy spring. Most good mice are 10mil at most, while low end can be 3mil or less, however, some switches from Omron are rated at 50-100mil.
On D2F switches, the 4th letter indicates country of origin, a Japanese is labeled just D2F, while Chinese variants are labeled D2FC. The next few letters indicate the pcb mounting or a lever, a -01 indicates gold alloy, and a -F at the end indicates a low spring pressure model.

D2FC indicates China with silver alloy spring (what we usually see)
D2F -01 indicates Japan with gold alloy spring
D2FC-01 indicates Chinese made with a gold alloy spring
D2F-01 -F indicates Japan with a low spring rate gold alloy spring

Interesting. I feel betrayed now by logitech :P But I would have to open one of em up to see what kind of D2F is inside. So the best spring is then the D2F-01... Japan + Gold.

Theoretically..
the BEST is D2F - F - 3 - 7
This is just the rumor I've heard..
I have no idea if they're good, and have not seen convincing pictures..
Ebay has them though.. I suspect they're fakes..
Would it be possible to buy them legit? Or is there no way of knowing for sure..

Seriously, where do you guys read up on the intricate details of omron mouse button switches? Where does all this knowledge come from?A lot is in the pdf I linked.

The F means much lower spring rate, it will feel rather mushy, 75g as opposed to the standard 150g. You might like it, but most people prefer a satisfying click on their mouse.
As per Omron, the 3 indicates it should have a lever, however if you search the part, the ones for sale lack the lever. As for the 7, it doesn't even follow Omrons naming scheme at all as per their documentation, however these have been found in HP mice. I do know Omron makes a ton of switches though, so it's possible, but it's also well known that the Chinese rip them off constantly, even manufacturers have been duped before.
If you want a nice, long lasting switch, similar to what you have, look for a D2F -01 and no other markings.

Funny, you can't find these on auction sites, only reputable dealers and/or a higher price... coincidence?
I was gonna say teflon, but you already got there on page 2. ;)
How's the sensor, though, especially when you turn off prediction, acceleration (true turning off may require a registry hack, not just control panel) and everything else like that?
I love the way it has no side buttons.
