Just showing my two keyboards.
« on: Sun, 15 November 2015, 11:57:08 »
Hello. I'm new here at GeekHack.
After being a luker for a long time I've decided it's the right moment to introduce myself to you guys and while I'm at it I'll introduce my mechs aswell.  :)

Say hello to my Quickfire XT (Browns) and my Turtle Beach Impact 500 (Blues).

I'm using the XT at home right now.

I know these are aren't much when compared to most of the mechs I've seen around here, hehe, but these are mine.  :p
Also, please excuse my terrible photography skills... I took these with my smartphone's camera and the camera sucks.  :(

Sweet :)

Is that a Ducky blue/grey set?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yeah, it's one of those Ducky engraved sets (blue/grey) that pop up in Massdrop from time to time. I really liked the way it looked (clean and simple) and since I am slowly trying to learn how to touch-type I thought it was a nice set for a beginner. :p
I know it's not a blank set, but I guess it's close enough (I still don't fell 100% confident to go for blanks).

I was impressed by the overall quality of this set tbh. It works really well with linear switches (my XT got Browns).
Thick PBT. I'd say the quality is pretty nice considering the price.

Looks really nice! Impact 500 came up for sale in Norway this week! Was thninking about getting ducky 4 or das keyboard for my first mech, but Impact 500 is now half price of those and 40% cheaper than CM rapid-i. What do you think about it for typing only? Should I go for it?  ;D
