As an origami hobbyist for over a decade, I feel that this set only uses Origami as a veneer and isn't truly related to Origami.thank you very much for your time and LONG feedback, i will consider every piece of advice in the next update, be sure that the colors will change and the novelties will be revised too! :thumb:
I have a large collection of origami books (60+) from around the world that detail many kinds of models and designs as well as the theory, mathematics, and history of Origami and so I feel adequately knowledgeable to talk about Origami and how it's poorly represented here.
Firstly, the banner graphic for this set shows 2 models, an airplane and some bird. Traditionally, paper airplanes don't really count as Origami, mostly because they often start with non-square paper and often include the use of glue, tape, or multiple pieces. In general though, paper planes don't fit the main intent of Origami, which is the re-creation of nature in paper. The bird one, while being nature derived, looks like someone who doesn't fold/design origami made it digitally. The lines themselves don't make sense in terms how Origami bases are folded. The body has just so many triangles that really wouldn't appear like that normally. On top of that, the wing is also something that wouldn't normally happen. For the bottom part of the wing to end in the middle while the top part extends out would mean an intentional design around that wing vs a natural base design. It's also incredibly 2-dimensional. This is obviously incredibly nit-picky of me, but as someone who's been an Origami Hobbyist for a long time it makes me feel as if the design behind this is was very superficial without much understanding of Origami.
As for the colors, the grays in the base kit don't really make much sense with the theme of Origami, gray and dark gray aren't really "iconic" or "related" in my opinion. The blue is even further from the theme, in my experience, blues used in Origami are a much more royal blue with deepness instead of this teal.
Lastly, while most of the icons look very good and accurate to traditional origami, the choices of models seems a bit odd. The airplane on the Enter Key doesn't feel right to me, it's a pretty prominent key to put something that's not really traditional Origami. The lines on the other models are much realistic and show depth and shape that's very relevant. I think the choices of which models is a bit odd. I'm surprised to not see a traditional crane. They're very simple but incredibly iconic of Origami. The first novelty definitely fits the theme, is iconic, but I wouldn't choose that bird over the crane. While the Fish, Whale, and Dog are all accurate to me, I feel there are better models that could be shown. For example, I'd recommend the turtle, frog, rabbit, boat/hat, or some other ones. They're still cool though. The elephant, if you chose that specifically because of Alain Georgeot's elephant exhibit in which 88 different elephants were made from artists around the world, then I'm deeply impressed. I have a feeling though the choices for novelties were more of "this looks cool".
I like the look of the set in general, although it is very close to Modern Dolch, but I would definitely not agree that Origami is represented well here. This is your set and you're obviously free to design as you'd like, but I feel I should express that this really isn't an Origami set.
nice idea, but idk how the concept ties with dark greys and tealThe team is back to work, the colors will be changed ASAP
I'm loving the novelties and alt alphas! They look great together. Good luck! Thanks a lot for your feedback!
I really like the colors! GLWIC :thumb:Thank you very much, i appreciate your feedback :D
The new colours are much better, I still feel the novelties are not working as hard as they can for the theme you've chosen.
Origami is not only about final completed object, the instructions and process of folding is just as important. I feel the lexicon of origami, like dotted lines & curved arrows could make an appearance and give a lot more variety to the novelties than are currently on offer at the moment.
Congratulations on the color revamp, I respect that responsiveness to feedback 😊thank you very much for your feedback, be sure that this set will be the best set ever! I am working to make it the best!
I can feel this getting closer to the theme. The beige/off-white gives me a feeling of time-worn paper, while the gray adds a modern touch evoking dark creases. I kinda like this take.
the more i look at it, the more i like the white/ yellow colours. the subtle greyish blue kinda throws me off though because i feel like origami is often associated with big bold colours and even patterns. another thing that is a little weird is the inconsistent line weights of the novelties. for example, the dinosaur(?)'s lines are so much thicker than the elephant'sYes, i am working now on the novelties, be sure they will be perfect in the next update! thank you for your feedback! :thumb:
Very good idea of novelties, thank you very much, i will think about it!The new colours are much better, I still feel the novelties are not working as hard as they can for the theme you've chosen.

I agree on this,
with ePBT, you can have more freedom in what to print,
maybe we could have some "creases" or some kinds of folding instructions on the modifier keys? ;D
I like the updated colors that are part of the revamp. I am definitely interestedHappy to hear that :thumb:
Some solid changes, and even better improvements- a complete sucker for the muted accents/legends on beige look!Thank you very much! ;D
New colors looking great. Can you please add a 40's kit? Not much reason not to for ePBT.thank you very much, i will consider that!
i think this is looking awesome! the new colors are great, very tasteful & classy!Hey, thank you very much for your opinion on my set! Definitely, i am working now on the novelties, to make them perfect!
novelties are the only thing that could use some work imo (line thickness n stuff) but that's already been mentioned & sounds like it's on your list - GLWIC, i think this set has a ton of potential! :thumb:
I heard that ePbt's MoQ setup was that, if base kit hits MoQ, then all kits will be made, is that right?I will consider that :thumb:
May I request a Colevrak kit please? Pretty please?
This is pretty awesome :thumb:I really appreciate your feedback, thank you very much, i will consider all of the things you wrote me in this comment. About the crane, i have it in novelties kit since i first posted the IC, maybe it was just a misunderstanding! :thumb:
I love the shade of Grey used and it works super well againt the off-white of the alphas.
-I would be curious to see renders with a slighly different/darker shade of cream for the mods to have a ever so slightly more pronounced contrast.
(but maybe irl these colors will work out perfectly, but just on the renders I feel the 2 shades of off-white/cream of the alphas/mods are slightly too close).
-Same as others, I feel the novelties could be better.
It's totally personal preferences, but I am not a huge fan of some of the animals chosen. They feel a bit too random? (I like the giraffe and maybe one of those birds)
I am not an origami specialist but I feel probably the most popular Origami is the crane, but you don't have one? What about non-animal novelties? For example I like the geometric/abstract shapes you often see in Origami.
-Consider adding Alice support in base kit, since the spacebars kit only has accent split bars.
-I'd like to see a Rama. I feel there is something pretty awesome to be done with the Origami theme. Maybe the missing Crane that I mentioned before?

Wow I'm a huge fan of this. Great job!Thank you very much, loop! :thumb:
Your response to the feedback is commendable and a masterclass. Love the rework and this is definitely a set I'm interested if not only for just the noveltiesWow I'm a huge fan of this. Great job!Thank you very much, loop! :thumb:
The cream/gray combo works well! I'm not too sold on the mods color, though. I think it's too much of a saturated yellow to match with the unsaturated gray. Then again, I might just be scarred from the memory of ABS yellowing...
I'm liking thisI appreciate your feedback!
I tend to point this out alot:
It would be nice if the Nordic kit had the hiragana sublegends as well.
If you dont add them (for example to the y and z keys) it will look weird in the end.
Apart from that i really like the gray accents.
The paper colour is probably not for everyone but i think it works out in this case.
Looking forward to see how this goes.
I would love to see the NorDe Kit having sublegends as well. Otherwise you are forced to buy Latin Kit as well. Having some keys without a sublegend would look pretty weird as Dragonhunt pointed out before.
I see that u have given yourself the title of Graphic Designer, I think that the set could be a lot better if u took the time to design the novelties for the set yourself. I agree with the others that the novelties need work, downloading the icons seems like a cheap and easy way to just put something together to get the set done. hope to see your design skill shine in the desk mats! glwicDeskmat coming soon, i am 100% sure you'll like it! ;D
Maybe it would be better if it was just Hiragana legends or just Latin legends.
Alternatively, it would be cool to have the option of getting the base kit with all latin legends. I understand the sublegends since the theme is Origami which originated in China or Japan iirc. But unfortunately it always comes off as "weeb-y" so I personally don't particularly enjoy the look of sublegends. Maybe it would be better if it was just Hiragana legends or just Latin legends.
Yeah, I definitely prefer Latin alphas and how they work with the NorDe kit, but I suppose that would depend on MOQ for another base kit?
Love the revised look! This is it! :thumb:thank you very much!
Very clean colorsThank you very much!
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I looked where you bought the novelty icons from and it says that you can't use them on products? As of now, I've only bought 1x of each icon used from The Noun Project that means i can manufacture up to 100 novelty kits , regarding the sale hasn't started. If I decide to move on with these novelties, and we get sales, profit margins will go towards paying for the icons used!
Miss the old colors :(Looks better now! :D
ooooh love the color combo!Thank you very much!
Especially the greyish blue!
The set looks really great!thank you dude!
i LOVE that 901 render, well done.thank you :blank:
those metal keycaps are legit nicethank you very much!
ooo likie the colorsthank you very much!

Please stop putting diamonds next to Apple-style mods, thanks. Ne 1.5U supers in base?im sorry, wdym diamonds? thank you for pointing out about the sizes :thumb:
Also the novelties render has the wrong sizes on some keys. 1.75U should be 1.5U.
Nice theme overall. Love the subs.
I really, really, like how these keycaps are shaping up. So much, in fact, that I’ve finally decided to register in the forum just to ask if it would be possible to add an Int-south kit for south European keyboards (Italy, Spain, Portugal, not sure if any other countries are included), such as the one here:
https://mykeyboard.eu/catalogue/kam-superuser-int-south_3259/
Pretty please? I’d love to buy this set, but I’ve gotten a bit lazy over the years, and I would prefer having a keyboard whose labels match the letters that will appear when I type!

I think that jagger27 is referring to the keycaps, in the macOS kit, with diamond shapes. I have a mac and I don’t know what they are, either (though I’ve seen them in other keycap GBs). They seem to be there in place of the mac command key/icon (⌘), as seen here: http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/samples/apple-wireless.json , although I guess that the ^ keycaps (not found in a mac keyboard either) could be used instead (I would go with the diamonds, though).
So we have twice the keycaps (^, diamond) instead of the cmd/⌘ ones that would usually be included in a Mac kit.

I still find kitting a bit strange for Alice users.2c and 3u?
You either have to buy the Fourties Kit or forced into accent spacebars.
Really wish base kit would have included 2-3 split spacebars in the alphas colors.

I love the grey but would also absolutely go for what I saw in it first: a bluish grey. I think this set really screams for color novelties in different colors

This is a nice kit.Yeah, the international kit lacks a R1 pipe key for iso uk and at the same time contains a redundant key that already existed in base.
However, I think I see a kitting error in the International kit.
The R1 >< key is duplicated from the Base kit. Is this supposed to be a UK ISO R1 |\ Key?

Excellent. Better than being told a week after the GB ended that it was resolved… 😂
Just noticed a typo in the title of the 40s kit: should be ‘Forties’, not ‘Fourties’.my bad for the 'Fourties' thing, about the modern kit, someone made it for me, someone helped me with all the kits!
And I assume the lack of response to my post above means that the R2 Shift and Stepped Shift in the Modern kit are intentional—would still like to know what they’re for though!

It’s not the International kit I’m talking about, it’s the Modern (i.e. icon mods) kit. R2 Shift and Stepped Shift are in there, which I’ve never seen before and can’t fathom the purpose of. Seems likely they’re mistakes.

Those are Caps Locks, not Shifts. And moreover you already have Stepped and Non-Stepped Caps Lock icon keys in the base. No? (Am I going crazy?)
(For the record, I’m pro getting rid of the R2 Shift and replacing the Stepped Shift with Stepped Control (^).)

Very unusual. I think I’ve seen it as text but not as an icon before. But the reason would be for boards that require a stepped key (e.g. Zambumon’s Sar).

Well IMO remove the R2 Shift and either change the stepped key to stepped Control (if you’re feeling adventurous) or remove it (if not.)
But perhaps consult someone more knowledgable than me, too!

It also strangely seems to have 2x R3 pgUp and 2x R2 pgDn. Is this a mistake?

I’m looking at the base set, and it seems to be missing an R2 home button. This is mandatory, and I won’t even consider such a large base set with so many keys if it is missing R2 home. It also strangely seems to have 2x R3 pgUp and 2x R2 pgDn. Is this a mistake
I still wish the novelties were reworked.working at the lines thickness atm, coming soon
They do feel pretty lazy, I understand they were bought directly and not designed by yourself.
But at least reworking them with the same line thickness seems like the minimum to do.
Granted I have very little knowledge in Origami, but I still find the ones you choose to be very odd choices, besides a few.
I support the idea of having 2 novelties kit.
This could be an animal novelties kit, but as some people (and I also early in the IC) pointed out there are many more shapes and concepts in Origami than animals.
I would have really like to see a kit with things like Origami flowers, geometrical shapes etc.
Any word on the missing keys in the Modern kit yet? :)modern kit updated!

Not sure whether the kit renders haven’t been updated yet, but the International kit is still missing a “, ;” key. It’s necessary to complete German layout support.

The R2 home button is still missing. If this is fixed, I will be picking up this set.
Good job resolving issue with pgUp pgDn
I am going to repeat it: the international kit as pictured is flawed.
I only managed to find one layouts using a “; :” key on R1: Brazilian.
Many other layouts require a “, ;” key on R1 that this kit is still missing. Specifically ones that otherwise seem to be supported by the set: German, Swedish, Danish, Norway, maybe more.
Please fix this.
Why is R2 home “mandatory”I have a Keychron K2 (https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k2-hot-swappable-wireless-mechanical-keyboard), it’s a 75%. It’s navigation column is R4 pgUp, R3 pgDn, R2 home, R1 end. (Note that the renders for this set have numbered the rows bottom to top, which I this is not the norm. Using the standard numbering, its a R3 home, but I’ll stick to using the row numbers as rendered.
There’s plenty of physical coverage for a 65% macro column and delete pg up, pg down, fn is more common

In terms of it being mandatory, what I intended to convey was that it must have a 1u R2 home button in order for me to consider buying it.
I do acknowledge that having a home key on the same row as the ANSI enter key seems to not really be a thing. None of the other sets seems to have it either.
Perhaps what I would like to see is a move by set designers towards supporting the Keychron K2 boards, which would only require the addition of a R2 home key.

Ah gotcha, fwiw if you really want this keycap set (or many others) it would still physically cover your board, some of your legends on that macro column might just be off. It’s not idea but you might have to get used it unless that layout becomes super popular. Also the bottom to top row numbering is how epbt officially numbers rows which explains why they’re in that direction if you are used to GMK kitting. Keyreative (kat/kam) also numbers rows this way iirc.

Thank you for that info about the different numbering between GMK and ePbt, I’ll watch for that detail from now on.
In this kit the possible keys I could use to cover it are only the homing F and J, the \ |, pgUp and PgDn. That’s it. As you say, not ideal. My hope would be a 1u novelty, but that doesn’t seem to be a thing either.
(https://i.imgur.com/7CNn8oy.png)Not sure whether the kit renders haven’t been updated yet, but the International kit is still missing a “, ;” key. It’s necessary to complete German layout support.
Please fix this.
fixed! It also strangely seems to have 2x R3 pgUp and 2x R2 pgDn. Is this a mistake?
Good find. Can we get confirmation that this will be fixed for the GB?
Looks good
