mr. cute

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I am more of a canidae person but some random felidae photos still provokes me in some weird ways:

Then I decided to also look up at something that I had as my background (on my handheld device) for awhile:

Then there's pups which are also... well you know what I mean:

This also makes one sort of wonder, cats get abandoned by their mother in a captive zoo but a foster parent of a completely different breed takes command. Maybe dogs are more friendlier. :p

Just looking at these exotic pets it makes me want one.  :)) They stand out so much from all these dogs that you see in some neighbourhood and besides, they all carry specific traits like as if a culture for other (dogs) to follow. More fennec:

From what little research I have done on the Fennec Fox, it is my understanding that they have a tendency to run off given the opportunity never to return. Wouldn't want to let them go frolicking in the yard.

Not that I have any solid evidence to either go strongly on either for or against on your statement. I was curiously researching the domestication of dogs vs cats just then and from what I can tell (apart from foxes) is that it maybe unlikely the fox will run and never come back if they were sort of "pampered". According to wikipedia:
Wolves, and their dog descendants, would have derived significant benefits from living in human camps—more safety, more reliable food, lesser caloric needs, and more chance to breed.[51] They would have benefited from humans' upright gait that gives them larger range over which to see potential predators and prey, as well as color vision that, at least by day, gives humans better visual discrimination.[51]

That said this mainly applies to domesticated dogs. There are some (very little) study that it seems when (supposedly) wild wolves comes in contact with humans at a very early age tends to see them as some sort of a partner (or equivalent level) rather than mortal enemy (even though historically wolves were human's mortal enemy for killing human's hard earnt livestock). I have watched two very different sort of documentary about human interactions with wolves and it seems as though in a broader sense the canis genus may unlikely be willing to run away if they were fed (and cared for) by humans.

Wild dingoes where I live is also a bit of an issue, people go around feeling sorry for the poor stray dog by feeding them. Guess what, the dingo locks onto humans as source of "asking for food" instead of hunting for food by itself because it is easier for them to ask humans for food knowing that they will get it. The humans in this case becomes a victim when dingoes lashes out attacks when humans refuses to give them food. Then it becomes the news the following day where dingo lashes out attacks on humans. I guess it is similar to coyotes and where coyote are attacking humans because of humans feeding them in the first place.

In a more primal sort of sense, land based animals seems unlikely to run away from humans for instance when humans are providing them a few things that they take things for granted. Then again in saying so on the contrary there are cases of where dogs for instance may run away due to certain environments that they cannot tolerate in. I was watching this other youtube video on Cesar Milan and wolf dogs (part wolf, part dog, a hybrid/mix breed) and you can often hear the "wolf woman" was saying that the wolves want bigger playing spaces, not small little cages where they can't do much. I am sure the same could be said for active dogs, like siberian husky where it may get bored if it were to stay in some small backyard without much exercise.

One of my ideal pet would be Tamaskan dog, partly because it looks like a wolf but it isn't and not many people where I live would know what Tamaskan is. I would love a wolf but there is no way I would be able to tame a real one, foxes are seen as a pest here so owning one as a pet if not illegal is probably frowned upon. Anyway according to wikipedia (which I personally believe this would apply to most active/working dogs) is that:
Tamaskan dogs need company, and if left alone for long periods of time, they may become bored, which can lead to destructive behavior and/or escape attempts. Moreover, Tamaskan Dogs love to dig holes and can pull quite strongly on the leash; both traits they have inherited from their arctic heritage. However, unlike some of their husky ancestors, Tamaskans generally respond well off the leash and, with training, will return when called.

Now I am sure if one neglects any dog for instance they would want to escape because there are no incentives for relationship between humans and dogs.

Contrary to all this, the "fox" genus of canidae as noted in wikipedia:

The presence of fox-like carnivores all over the globe, together with their widespread reputation for cunning, has contributed to their appearance in popular culture and folklore in many societies around the world (see also Foxes in culture)

That leaves me somewhat stumped to hear that Fennec Foxes would run away from humans if they have a chance. It is noted that Foxes in general likes to dig holes but theoretically if the Fox is being kept active and "loved" in some form it is unlikely for one to picture a Fox would run away and never return. Then again I never owned a Fox so I wouldn't know for sure but instead doubt on the notion of thought (that Fennec Fox would run away and never return).

tl;dr Fox belongs to the greater family of canidae and not in the same genus as canis. Maybe their behaviour is much more harder to interpret. Though I dunno.. Foxes still look cute.  ;D

"Firefox" in disguise:

 ;)

We have quite a few Fox at work. The miners always feed them yet I can recognize a lot of them based on their color and coat and even tho they are often fed, I always see them running down the mine roads with rabbits and partridge in their mouths so it's comforting to know that they are still more than capable of fending for themselves. They absolutely do not fear humans and I've even pet one but even after years of being fed and interacting with humans, any sudden movements get them spooked. Nature is beautiful. It's one of the perks of working nightshift in a heavily forested area. I get to (often) see fox, rabbit, partridge, bears, moose, coyote, wolf, lynx, owls etc. Of all the animals I see, wolves and coyotes are the rarest followed by the lynx. There has even been sightings of a cougar believe it or not. I haven't been lucky enough to spot it myself but multiple co-workers have. Very hard to get pictures on my phone but here are a few.

All those little faces :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It might even take sometime before the foxes becomes somewhat acquainted with humans. I guess maybe they were hunted or something so they are probably fearing any sudden/jerky movements are attempts to kill/maim it. The more of hunting going on around that area the more chances that bewilds both the fox and of the two different "faces" that humans show. One with utter hatred and the other one with curious and generous.

Maybe in hindsight we are showing them that we are just as cunning as they are. lol.

I watched a youtube video about foxes. You can see that foxes seems to be very alert by nature even though we offer them food and what not they still treats us with suspicion. I am somewhat sure any animal from nature would somewhat see things with suspicion.

I have to agree with turtle here. I used to think more of her but the Zooey novelty has worn off long ago. I get bad vibes from her. I recall seeing a picture where she's holding this handwritten sign that says something like "you'll never f*** me" or something along those lines and it went with some quote like "guys think that just because I'm a 'normal' girl that they can get in my pants" or something like that. Look, I understand how that can be annoying but don't make it your "brand". Someone who claims SO often that they don't care what people think or say shouldn't have to say it SO often.

Crappy pic, I know, but I kept this kitten in my room for a day before my sister was gonna give it to her bf. I fell in love, it was really hard to give it up.. (The cat, not my sister)
