I really like the look of this keyboard in white. It would be nicer if the LEDs were blue:

I think I'd prefer a large keyboard to be all white like this, and a compact to be charcoal black like the HHKB. I really hope Cherry start making these keyboards available in Europe and the US.

LOL, the Das II raised from the dead. White looks nice though.

Cherry has a creative marketing manager somewhere in the far east.

it is available in europe but you'll have to find a german reseller to ship it to yo your preferred country and since it uses the european standard which the british/french/german/etc keyboards also use there won't be a problem if your used to european layout.

It will probably be about the same price if you can get your hands on them but additional delivery costs unless you live in germany

Any links? Often xx in the model-no means that you have to replace it by the actual country code.

Why does the translation keep referring to squirrels?  This something to do with a comparison with KBtalking?

That looks great, replacing the LEDs would be easy too, just use a multimeter to figure out the voltage through the LED (if it doesn't say on the board) and then buy some new ones and solder them in.

On current Cherry controllers you have SMD LEDs:

Can you get one of these in a standard US layout?

If not, am I correct in assuming this has Blue Cherrys?

G80-3000LSCEU has blue Cherries. 'S' is the blue switch, 'EU' is the ANSI version (horizontal enter, lettered keycaps).

This board has a product code ofG80-3000LPCEU-0.  What does the "P" indicate for switch type?

Im bumping an old thread I know but I have been asking cherry about these and this is the reply.

The blank ones are difficult to get hold of. They’re not normally carried in stock at all either here or in Germany and believe it or not, they actually charge us EXTRA to be able to get them. Their excuse, is that this costs an additional amount to stop the production line and pull the required stock out, but I’m not convinced…

On our system here, we’ve got the blank black version shown, but not the white, which means we’ve never bought them in. The black version has been purchased previously, but we have no stock at all. The trouble is, in order to get them, there is a minimum order quantity, which is generally 45pcs at a time. There is one further option for you. A company called ‘Devlin Electronics’ who are a distributor for Cherry’s keymodules, also manufacture their own keycaps. It’s possible that you may be able to get hold of a ‘standard’ G80-3000 and purchase a blank key-set from them For more info, try http://www.devlin.co.uk or call them on 01256 467367.

Hope this is useful!

Regards,

So looks like a no go unless you want to import from Japan which costs far too much for me :(

Thanks for the info. I was wondering what the minimum order quantity might be for a custom Cherry. I'd like a G80-18xx with blank keycaps.

Devlin don't make MX compatible keycaps like this:

Its a shame as the white one in your original post looks lovely. Especially for a mac user (which I'm not but still it looks great)
Interesting that they have had one lot of the black blank ones.
I wonder who bought them?

I realized that the Dell AT101 does not have these "cylindrical" keycaps, and it does not bother me a bit as all my other keyboards have them (except for my ML4100), and I never even noticed.  Huh, live and learn.
