POM | POM | $40 |
Does it smell thoI was promised stanky stank in the IC thread. I will be very disappointed and feel cheated if I open the package and it doesn't reek
Boy, I sure hope someone will swing by and explains to me the pros and cons if these plate materials.

I mean, we all know this will be a bouncy boi, but how bouncy is, say, FR4 vs. Carbon Fiber? Sound profiles?
No proxies? Shipping to Asia is prohibitive

I would like to know as well. I was told that POM is is just a tiny bit more rigid than PC but that's just based on one person. More info among all these plate materials is very much welcome for some of us.

Rigidity @ 1.5mm thickness:
Brass > Carbon Fiber > Aluminum > FR4 (fiberglass) > Polycarbonate > POM (acetal)
Sound (I suggest you explore these yourself):
CF: unique sound signature, would suggest youtubing videos.
FR4: same material used in fabricating PCBs
Polycarbonate: commonly used in CDs and DVDs
Acetal: used in guitar picks and turntable platters.
@159 - is there an MOQ for this or is it definitely happening?

Thanks, I was curious if there was a minimum to make the project viable - looks like around 80 have sold so far.

Some high-powered math - the 300 max number posted in this thread minus the in-stock number here https://store.projectkeyboard.com/collections/sirius/products/preorder-sirius-1 (https://store.projectkeyboard.com/collections/sirius/products/preorder-sirius-1)
Actually more like 67.
Not sure if this has been asked elsewhere, but does POM turn yellow over time? If so, slower/faster than more commonly used keyboard and cap plastics?Slower than other plastics.

ABS and PBT plastic tends to yellow due to photo degradation. ABS and PBT plastics are made with a bromine fire retardant. Oxidation from other things like biodegradation (your nasty neckbeard cheesepuff hands touching it) can, and will naturally happen, but that bromine flame retardant speeds up the process AND allows the vector of UV light to catalyze a photodegradation process.
Luckily for us, Polyoxymethylene (POM) has a very low oxygen index, meaning it doesn't have some of these flame retardants in it.
Yes, I would do my best to keep it away from open flamesNot sure if this has been asked elsewhere, but does POM turn yellow over time? If so, slower/faster than more commonly used keyboard and cap plastics?Slower than other plastics.

Thanks for the detailed response. That’s good to know, and interetsing as well.
POM is somewhat flamable, though, isn’t it? Is that because it lacks the fire retardant that’s in ABS and PBT? I would hope it’s not so flamable that something like a pcb short would be a fire danger.
https://store.projectkeyboard.com/collections/sirius/products/preorder-siriusYou need to select the $225 option as well: https://store.projectkeyboard.com/collections/sirius/products/preorder-sirius-1
Why it's free? it's really going to cost me 110$ for
case - free
weight - 50$
pcb hhkb hotswap 60$
110$ without shipping?
160$ with fast shipping to my country.
it's really that cheap????
Does anyone know how to safely clean this stuff? I'd hate for my grubby nubs to discolor it irreparably.Kinda par for the course. You can't stop degradation via oxidation, you can only slow it by not being an animal and washing your hands/lay off the cheetos. People have had luck using this: https://www.amazon.com/Marianna-Super-Star-Creme-Developer/dp/B00FKVYCHQ/ , but again, the oxidation releases chemicals from the plastic, so it's still going to be different then when you got it, even after cleaning.

Hi, I'm a little new to all this; would you guys recommend also grabbing the internal weight? Aside from greater stability, does it change anything? Thanks!Aesthetics mostly, as well as just making your keeb a thicc chunk on your desk that takes effort to move (typically a good thing). The brass weight will affect the sound, but not necessarily make it objectively better or even affect it to a point where you can hear a difference.

Damn. I do kind of want my keyboard to be a brick on my desk. I might just have to grab it. The way I think about it is that I'm spending so much money on this premium keyboard... I best be maxing it out.
I would absolutely grab it. I grabbed it myself, if it makes you feel any better. You can only regret NOT having the weight. You won't regret having itDamn. So is light the main issue? Would skin oils really be much of a problem? I'm considering joining but my hands are fairly sweaty/greasy. I wash them pretty religiously but they get oily when doing anything for a decent amount of time.
Did the extras sell out? GB link was posted in the IC thread, but still lists as sold out.I imagine the GB thread link was only posted so that discussion would move to the appropriate thread.
Any extra avail?
^ Interested in any extras as well. ;D
Update in 2nd post: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=100647.msg2762310#msg2762310Yeet, looking good. Hype for this one
What email address would my order confirmation be from? Searching through paypal and multiple gmails for 'sirius' or 'project keyboard' isn't bringing up any results for me.You might have deleted it. My order confirmation is from contact@projectkeyboard .com. header is just "Project Keyboard," with the title "Order Confirmation".
Nah I never delete emails... literally for reasons like this. Might have gone to spam though, which gets auto trashed :\What email address would my order confirmation be from? I've got a hell of a weekend ahead of me. Thanks onefivenine and project keyboards for delivering a great product in a very timely and on schedule fashion. I was, however, promised that this keyboard would stink like hell in the true POM fashion, and it does not. ;)Aw, heck. I didn't realize these were shipping out already. I need to get a PCB and switches ready soon, haha.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/JOeqNfs.jpg)

Interested in this. Any future updates?
From what I've heard 159 is planning on having this board available as an in stock item, so it's definitely coming back.
You could alsow keep an eye on the project keyboards update pageInterested in this. Any future updates?
Will there be a 2nd or 3rd run?
Or will there be another POM keyboard?
I do not know where I got it
but I got it
I guess it is from discord, when the groupbuy ended
