Hmm, that's not exactly the same as the other one (the mini HHKB basically)

Yeah, I couldn't find the mini HHKB one when I looked.  That's the one I was interested in, as well.

I already have a mobik so another very similar 40% isn't that interesting for me :P

The Mini HHKB on the other hand...

Oh, it's a custom-made ordered by me. I will ask him to put it on taobao if possible.

Is it still the same PCB? Just a different case?

Yes, the only difference is the case --no holes at bottom left and right corner.

If there are more than 5 guys want to the "minihhkb" case,I think I can product some.
But I can't ship them to US.
So they can only buy it on the taobao and find a proxy.
Here is the link:https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=520741513693

Is it possible to get both plates so we can change in the future?
Of course
Maybe we can  make a small GB?

If you can find a proxy for not too much and I or someone else can distribute it within North America.
I has shipped a fc660 to my friends from China to Boston and it took me about 200CYN(about30USD)
But I really don't know how to ship to each of you.
So can you give me a suggest? ;D
Where in China are you located?  Also, where would the boards ship from?  I might be able to help.
I'm live in Beijing.

My friend in BJ, a foreigner, could collect from you and send to us. I will ask him and get back to you guys.

I'm down for 2-3 kits

Yeah, I'd be down for a mini HHKB kit if we get a mini GB going for it.

Ok I talked to my friend, he's on holiday now but will be back in a few months. He can help us in 2016 or you guys can find a different proxy now.

I'd suggest not waiting as the closer you get to Lunar New Year the less likely people are working.
I'm back.

So is Kimera Core a custom controller? Never heard of it. Interesting!
Yes
It work with tkg:
http://keyboard.fans/tkg
(you can use this address when enjoyclick.org can't use)
Is this tool hasu referred to being in development? I'd try it out further but I'm on my phone in heavy traffic so no tmk for me...
Any word on the answer to this?
Am I the only one wondering about this?

Sorry for my late reply. TKG is a system (firmware and tools) made by me and it's based on the great tmk firmware.
It's not hasu's tool but you can still choose to do keymapping in TKG way or just in the original tmk way. I hope this answers your question.

I'm definitely interested if a Group Buy develops. Taobao is a little beyond my ability to navigate.

Thank you for posting your keyboard.

Get over to IC and see how big the group is. Might be able to get batches made at a discount if you have enough support for this. :D

sample is supposed to be on the way.

Once I get that in I'll put up the IC to hopefully move into a group buy within a week.

Looking to do 20 units in the group buy because of the shipping breaks.

Of course if all goes well there can be multiple rounds depending on greatfirewall

Mini HHKB sounds amazing xD

Sometimes I do want to use something different from the standard 40% Mobik that I've been using for the past year.

I'm definitely in for the mini HHKB, I really like the Mobiks too but I can't justify the price considering the amount of use it would see.

I use my mobik daily and setup the second FN layer to act like a numpad if I want to use it that way =P

Quite the nifty and effective bugger for general typing but I wouldn't recommend small boards for any extended use for coding or other things (however I still do some excel programming with it while I'm out and about).

I'll also mention that there's going to be options for different top plates (well, the two different ones).

This is a very cute board, I like the split layout on the bottom row.

One thing I don't get with so many 40% designs is placing the Enter key as a home key. If you add a 1x in that position instead you only widen it by 0.5u and you can have symmetrical bottom 3 rows with the typing centre point in the actual centre point of the keyboard and it gives you another useful key (or more depending on bottom row layout) and it allows for more character layout options, something like this: http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/65ac4e37afb1a3bf1314

(Attachment Link)

Also, no stabs needed. The JD45 is almost like this, but I don't like the Enter / Right Shift stagger and it's not symmetrical on the bottom 2 alpha rows or split in the typing centre on the bottom row. Also, it's 0.5u wider again. No offense meant, JD, you've done a good job with the designs overall, it's just my personal preference.

Each component is custom made; why not make it all perfect. This layout is appealing. Very balanced like a Planck but more funky.

I definitely use TAB more than ESCAPE and would opt for my red keys up in that top left corner to offset the larger BACK SPACE in the upper right. Nice to see CAPS LOCK thrown into the fire.

For fun I'd love to see, just for once, the top left be a dedicated exclamation mark. Maybe dollar sign or at symbol if appropriate for the user.

Will we all eventually make our own individual completely custom keyboards right down to the gold springs and pbt wrist rests?

So you got one then? I'm leaning either towards a JD45 or a GON still, but this one sure looks nice.

I'm setting up the group buy with greatfirewall. This is a sample and for the price it's pretty promising.

Going to iron out the terms with GFW and put up the IC.

GL1TCH3D, are you associated with the IC that just popped up? https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=77727.0 I'm interested in this board, but I prefer the aluminium plate you have on your prototype. If you are going to start up something separate, I'd rather wait for yours.

Firstly, their IC is  re-selling our PCB without authorization.
Second,we sell his friend some pcb just for personal use.
The most important is we will not provide pcb for their IC.

GL1TCH3D, are you associated with the IC that just popped up? https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=77727.0 I'm interested in this board, but I prefer the aluminium plate you have on your prototype. If you are going to start up something separate, I'd rather wait for yours.

Not at all associated.

I just saw that one too. Their price is cheaper but not sure if that includes the shipping from China.
Firstly, their IC is  re-selling our PCB without authorization.
Second,we sell his friend some pcb just for personal use.
The most important is we will not provide pcb for their IC.

Ah that sucks, price was almost too good to pass up. Guess a boycot is in order jk just saw it was closed. Do you plan on ever running a GB in the future?
Just wait GL1TCH3D.
He got the sample some days age.

I already posted some pics of the sample!

I'm in the middle of exams but I'll solder it up once the exams are done!

I think I've already worked out all the details with GFW but it is my first time running a GB so it will be a learning experience.

Looking to hit 20 units because of the shipping weight breaks.
Awesome! If the price is solid I'll definitely pick one up

It'll be around $100 all in (including shipping to canada / USA) but without build or any of that - just PCB / case.

the case is a lot like gon cases or other korean customs with the top and bottom plate with acrylic insert.

I've never built a board before, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. With just a PCB and case you would still have to add switches, keycaps, and what else?

Stabilizers, diodes, LED's, resistors, cable. Usually.
I'm back.

So the group buy for the Golbat 40% keyboard will be just for the PCB and case only? Then we have to source the other components elsewhere?

I'm a total newbie at this whole thing and looking to have the Golbat 40% as my first project. (I don't even know how to solder!).
Will there be instructions provided on how to assemble and program this keyboard?

I'll try and figure out the programming so I can help people if they have problems.

But otherwise shipping of components in Canada is really high so the added cost to add in the components would be a bit silly for some people. I don't have a stockpile of switches or LEDs either so if I were to distribute components I'd have to order everything to what people want.

There are lots of guides for building your own keyboard!

PCB is generally one of the best things to get instead of handwiring xD

IC will be going up this weekend!

I haven't built it yet but will soon. Obviously will before I start / collect money in the GB

I talked with GFW and I think I have everything ironed out including colors available, pricing, etc.
