I may have to pull from my gamer's vocabulary to properly describe this guy.

'Noob' definitely fits this guy.

That was a lot of text for a G81-3000 review when it could also be summed up in one word: ****!

Seriousily, you can't blame this guy for hating on the G81. MY switches are absolutely terrible and most people (including me) will prefer a rubber dome over them at any time.

His G81 is noisy? All G81s I had the misfortune to get my hands on sounded as dead as they felt. But then... how could I distust this smile:

Keyboards with a linear response are an acquired taste; keyboards with a linear response and too much friction when not hitting the keys dead enter are... meh.

My greased vintage G81-3000 isn't so bad. I'd rather type on that one than any Alps board (friction galore).

And yes, compared to some of the stuff that's around today, a G81 isn't *that* quiet. Of course we know that it's still pretty harmless absolutely speaking.

Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

[strike]Hmm, don't they use FTSC switches (not MY).[/strike]
EDIT> Never mind, I was mixing up ML and MY in my head.

FTSC are mechanical sliders over membrane switches.

Can good sliders compensate for the limitations of membrane switches? I doubt it. You can polish a turd, but you just end up with a shiny turd.

The correct answer is "Yes."  See: the Buckling Spring mechanism in the IBM/Unicomp Model M.

I suppose that is true. IBM made their turds shiny AND fragrant.

MY "switches" are mechanical sliders with a spring over membrane.

Must contain rage, over comment that rubber domes are better than MY (rage is mostly from work mind you). For consistent feel alone, MYs are worlds better than any rubber dome (minus Topre). Even domes such as keytronic (I've used a lot of them) are crap for this.

Knowing the amount of force to use on each key is just a matter on technique, nothing more. If you can't do it, you're just lazy. So go buy yourself a board with browns/blues (not that they're bad or anything).

*HaaTa does not endorse any of the comments in this post, as they were typed using a keyboard with MYs, which apparently have anger management/mother issues. You have been post-warned*

That reviewer just needs to get a Filco and he will shut up forever, though he may dislike the spacebar because it has a pretty loud THUNK when you hit it hard, which I end up doing once a thought springs to mind that I have to get out as quickly and loudly as possible.

Rubber domes make me want to punch babies now.  You guys have really turned me to the dark side.

Wow, that's so awesome/passionate I'd feel ashamed saying it.

It's sort've like saying, the US and A is raping the planet, bla, bla, bla (where my brain turns off). Sure they are, but not on those terms. Its more stealing college savings from children.
Which is also bad, but I don't have to have a literal picture of some fat white american red neck whipping it out at a gopher hole.
And just think of the gophers, they'd be mentally scarred for at least 5 generations, before performing mass suicides due to having a dysfunctional childhood.

*Disclaimer: HaaTa is very drunk and just came home at 40 km/h on his bicycle. Taking any of his comments seriously has been scientifically proven to reduce your lifespan by 37 seconds. This is irrefutable [strike]truth[/strike] bull****.*

That is kind of an odd smile, isn't it?

What a ridiculous review though. Really.

IANAL but I think there are legal concerns with using that photo in a way that would imply the person in the photo is in any way incompetent...even if they've proven they are.

If you bottom it out extremely hard...like, equivalent of dropping an encyclopedia or something on it...does it seem any different?

Maybe it's designed for very aggressive Escape artists.
