Ordered one. This is going to be an expensive month for keyboards. :D

EDIT: I guess I will need to start sourcing some switches and stabilizers.
EDIT2: These should fit, right?

Those are definitely pcb mount cherry stabs, so they're good
Not too sure on imsto's shipping speed, though :P.
I'm getting mine from GON's site. There are also switch stickers on that site, although only in red.

You can get switches from mechanicalkeyboards.com. ^^
Something about Imsto I am missing? Is he MIA?

I'll get the switches sorted out, so just a checklist for me, and other of what I will need to make this board work:
- MX switches 87x
- Cherry Stabilizers (6.25 or 7 unit spacebar, depending on Winkey/Winkeyless)
- Switch stickers (Optional, but I want them)
- Mini usb cable
- LEDs, colour of choice
- Resistors (for LEDs, resistance depending on colour) Not necessary

Am I forgetting anything?

Well it is imsto.CN; and i usually hate chinese shipping :S
GON's shipping cost is pretty high though haha

I had no idea imsto had cherry stabs honestly

Cross out resistors on that list, all SMD soldering is already done, as confirmed by Sifo and Photoelectric-- you only need switches and LEDs

Other than that, your list looks good ^^ And don't forget a good set of thick PBT or GMK abs key caps to really bring out the LEDs; or else, they'll bleed and look all crappy ):
Current Keyboards: Orion - 62g ergo clears;
A87 PS2AVR - 59g ergo clears; QFR - stock blues

On that note, does anyone have good recommendations for keycaps that look good backlit?  I like the look of the ones on the CODE keyboard (even though they are thin and flimsy) but they are not sold independently of the keyboard.

You can get a set of Ducky Shine keycaps from mechanicalkeyboards.com.  Trouble is that those are made for switches mounted upside-down on Ducky keyboards, with LEDs pointing up.  If you use those on "normally" mounted switches, the LED will be closer to the front of the keycap, and the legends won't be as well illuminated.  Unless you get transparent switch covers too to disperse the light.

Thanks, I was planning to put Ivan's Black on Black pbt dyesubs on there with red leds and clear switch covers. That should make it an ominous little board. :P
And match my computer case as well.

That should make my desk primarily Korean XD

Same here :P Although the front LEDs on my case kind of died out, most of it is still red :P
Wish i had clear switch covers though; but I think i've spent enough on one keyboard for at least a couple months :P

You have a Zalman Z-Machine case as well? I think by the end my keyboard will be as expensive as the case was originally.

I should open it up some time and take some measurements of the pcb of the front panel connections.
Design a new one and replace the Firewire with USB 3.0 or something.

Ah I don't have a Z-Machine case, I meant the red/black colour scheme + Ivan's pbt :P

What do you guys think of the lightsaver v2? Same specs as the original one but different case.

I love my V1 with the flat back.  The stepped back side is a little odd.  Same reason I find the Orion case and other related designs a little funky when looking from the back.

Another great thing about the original LightSaver is the relatively low height at the front--I think the new design would make it overall taller and require a wrist rest.

I am thinking of converting my QFR from ISO to ANSI, if I bought just the plate could I do this with the QFRs current PCB?
Looks to me that the QFRs PCB has holes for the ANSI layout, just need a plate for them to mount to.

These plates are designed to be mounted in an aluminum case. Besides, QFRs are so cheap, why not just get a new ANSI version?

I thought this might have been the case, worth a try though.
The reason I wanted to try this other then getting a new keyboard was money saving, as it is $31+shipping (if it did work out) compared to something along the lines of $110 shipped to the UK (not including import tax @20%).

Thanks for the reply though, might look into alternative 87s from China :)

I think grey on grey is the most aesthetically neutral and goes well with any set imo.
Black is much too common and and the silver is very flakey-looking for me :S

I got grey top/bottom too :P In the end, it's your keyboard though

While I ended up passing on this awesome group buy to invest in some high end soldering stuff, I seriously doubt I will be able to resist the lightsaver v2 one if you do it. I'm still upset that I missed the butterfly buy, I'll be keeping a close eye out for your future group buys :)

Update on this group buy since it's closed now.  I forgot to withdraw the money from Paypal, so I did it just now.  I'll have to wait a couple days for the money to be in my account and then I can pay True Custom the money.  After that he will have them shipped in a week or 2.

Sorry for the delay.

Mmmm, Lightsaver V2...  :)  Still disappointed I somehow missed out on the original run of that.  I hope I have money when you run V2...

My favorite keyboard so far!  You won't regret it if you get it :D  So much fun to plan it out with all those options, from physical configuration to software.

Well your pictures are what made me regret missing it the most.  I unashamedly admit that if I could basically replicate what you've done I would be a happy camper.   :P

So far it's silver, black, and gray.  Any preference in any other colours? (Not that other colour options will happen, but maybe it will if enough interest?)
