does anybody else feel the acrylic angled bottom gives the board a strange and disproportional look?
Kind of, but it gets so shiney.. Me likes shiney.
But seriously, I'd love to get my hands on a black aluminum bottom instead.
I went for the acrylic bottom to have a different degree/angle. I like the aluminum's angle fine (assuming it's the same as the LSv2), but I wanted to try something different. I'm definitely a fan of the angle. I was going to spray black vinyl dye on the base to darken it up, but changed my mind (I figured the base has all those LEDs, so why mask them). I like how the board looks like it's glowing from the inside, showing through both the top and the bottom. It's solid, stable, won't slide around on the desk, and doesn't kill one's back if you pack it along with a laptop. If the upcoming 75% duck board has the same angled acrylic bottom with the same angle, I'd do my damnedest to jump on board that buy.
TL;DR:
I like how my set up looks with red backlighting.
