i have a feeling it will get delayed, so as not to take a bite out of the initial rush for the U80. even if they're different form factors, they will be fighting for the same budget.

Last I heard, there are still some RAMA projects in the queue taking priority over the Thermal prototype. I have seen some very hype shots of the Thermal PCB so that’s moving along.

Production samples of cases should be finished soon. Like, this week maybe soon. As I have joked on Discord, the manufacturers are too busy cranking out M60-A right now to task switch. My mum always told me, good things come to those who wait.

Production samples of PCB were delivered. The colors and artwork are perfect, but something is missing. Fab did an oopsie. If you can spot it, you win a prize. No "missing ISO" jokes, please.

There ain't no copper on those holes
Edit: or is it that the left holes in top row aren't connected? Dunno if they don't have traces on the other side though

Is one of the columns missing a via connecting it to a switch?

220317-0

EDIT: Looks like a couple of the column vias are missing. Were they too close to the pad or something?

Column tracks top side go through the pads, or sometimes through a via near the pad.

Amazing! Looks like they got the right effect on the stabilizer holes but completely disregarded it for the border.

No... Immersion Silver is an alternative to Electroless Nickel/Immersion Gold (ENIG) with the same kind of properties.

Made an account to reply to this.  Rama already said it will be cheaper than the newly released U80 on Instagram in a comment I asked a couple weeks ago.  So expect sub $320 at the very least.

Can I just ask again if there is any way this will have a ISO option?

Also I would part with big money to see this design in a 100% layout or even a 75%.  100%, loose the top row but keep navigation and pgup/pgdw and numpad.  Would look extra wide and very cool.

It will take a little effort but it will be possible.  The plate file will be available and the case is designed to allow other pcbs, you would just need to wire the daughterboard up.

Sounds doable! I think this is what I'll end up doing. Think Wilba and co. have knocked it out of the park on this one. Totally getting that brutalist vibe off it.

Curious, what's the daughterboard for? Integrated USB-C?

Zeal60 rev 4 is Thermal compatible and has ISO support.

Mekanisk is running WT60-D MEKANISK now, which has ISO support.

https://mekanisk.co/collections/fjell-classic/products/unannounced-product

It is also 60% tray compatible.

Note: when I say compatible, it means you have to solder a JST connector to the PCB so you can connect the daughterboard USB-C, the on-board USB-C on those PCBs is not used in Thermal. I can add this connector to Thermal orders.

This is excellent news.  Please add to the orders for sure.  I am going in on this one.  I would still love to see a 100% KB render using this design.  The proportions would make it look really cool.

Seems quite an elegant PCB, I'm def gonna pick one up if I go for this board. Shows you can do ISO/ANSI in a PCB properly and still have per-key RGB for those that want that!

Solderable probably means solderable.

If it was hotswap, it would say hotswap.

One or the other, cant have both.

Hey I was so hyped about this board I forgot about the PCB. It says it's solderable, but does it mean it's hotswap but you can also solder it or just plain solder type pcb?

Solderable probably means solderable.

If it was hotswap, it would say hotswap.

One or the other, cant have both.
Yea that's what I thought, just wanted confirmation, it seemed weird even to me to have a pcb that's both hotswap and regular. I dunno, it was the "able" in solderable that kinda bugged me for some reason, for me it's either a regular pcb or a hotswap one (what I mean is I never use the term/word solderable for a pcb, that's why I found it weird for some reason).

Prototypes are good. Leaf spring mount works. We are getting things ready for a pre-order launch ASAP.

Wilba is vaguely shaped like the Loch Ness Monster.
