Dye sub would be more expensive in the end, but we'd have essentially endless freedom with the font etc, as we would just have to design the layout graphic for it... but honestly I'm all for just using their standard fonts, I have no problems with most of them and it saves us a bunch of fees.
yah, i don't really get what the problem is with their standard fonts. they're better than the futura on the filco keys, and they're remarkably close to the cherry font that everyone loves to much (which is also just another helvetica-a-like..). also, their standard fonts look particularly good centered. (i think the font i'm talking about is the wyse font..)

They have 4 or 5 standard font, may I suggest the Wyse font, it is much better looking then Arial :E

Hmm you guys think it would be possible to organize a group buy from Singapore? The shipping fees alone would kill right? I'm really eager to try but I don't think it'll be possible.

Yeah shipping would kill it since I'm guessing 80% of the people will be in the US.

I looked up prices in Hong Kong. The flat rate boxes from HK to US is the same price as US shipping within US. Effin amazing. I am going to run GB like crazy when I'm home. I can't wait to just graduate.

Dang it. Wonder if there's any way to get around that. Hmm if it were novelty keys instead of full sets, the 'damage' would be alot better right? Still looking into it, maybe I can find something.

Have someone here that is willing to be a US distributor while you manage everything else?

SP's shipping to HK is expensive, I hear their overseas shipping is quite unreasonable ;x

Hmm I could definitely rep Asia for a start. The rest of the globe would need to be divided depending on where shipping is cheaper from. My role would still be pretty minor since the bulk of buyers are still in the US but hey I am in to help out any way I can!

Basically the main benefit to having a US distributor is the speed. If it only takes a couple of days for the keys to get to me, and I ship them out a few days later, it takes out weeks of turnaround time usually present with international organizers. Shipping costs are killer too. In Asia some carriers are pretty cheap from Asia to the US, but from SP, it is quite expensive. A US distributor is useful for a number of reasons already stated, but having someone in the US keeps it simple and is more secure. A friend of mine suggested I outsource the sorting labor to another friend, and I told him no based simply on the reason that if I do it, I know it is done right, and everyone gets their keys. If I lose that certainty, then several other problems arise. That is why I ended up not pursuing a European or Asian distributor in the past.

Anyways, on another note, I still don't like the "Blood" name. Can I change it to "Ragnarok" (the proper spelling of the Norse mythology's armageddon) without much confusion? Meaning if I set the Order thread title to "Doubleshot 87 key Red on Black keyset: "Ragnarok" [Order Thread]" would anyone care or not know what it is? Red Alert has a really cool name that everyone remembers and knows exactly what it is, but I don't really get the same feeling from "blood."

Yes. But also because I can't handle the work of shipping at the expected time the keys get shipped from SP.

The main advantage will be the faster shipping to everyone. Also cheaper shipping from SP (tho if this cost is split across all people its only like $1 each?).

@Rag

I like the name Ragnarok. For the end of the world red on black is dark and sinister and fits really well. Also your idea, why not name it after yourself. I call dibs on Hazeluff for white on purple ; p.

Basically there are around 40 1.5x modifiers Phantom that was ordered, all the keys we normally do only have 1.25x modifiers, so people will be just using cherry sets. If possible I propose a kit that will solve some of those issues

2 Alt (1.5x)
2 Control (1.5x)
2 Diamond/Meta/Super (1x keys)
1 Stepped Caps
1 1800 Shift (1.75x)
1 Spacebar (7x)

These 9 keys as a add on kit, so people with filco/leopold etc etc can stick with the standard kit but for those people using Phantom, Cherry 1800, etc can pick up the add on kit.

Hey Tsangan, can you send me a pm or something with the exact specifics of some of these keys so I get it right when explaining them to Melissa? I'm still unclear on some of them. The stepped keey has whatt legend, stem position, etc, the super 1x key is windows right?

Make sure sp doesn't **** up the stepped caps lock. Round 3 stepped caps lock doesn't fit on my DK but cherry ones are perfect.

I think Sanguine is the best. It's a "Blood related" word. Look up the "sanguine" disposition on wikipedia. It also most closely reflects our pursuit of keycaps.

Also, Rag might want to reserve his moniker for different GB's or keep it separate (so communications aren't confused).

It was originally mine, but 7bit wanted it in R4 to add to its numbers. However, in doing so it increased in price dramatically over and over again as less and less people were interested in paying more. I told 7bit I would just do it so here I am about to start one up once I get an email back from Melissa with prices for the add on kits.

Question, we do not have spoiler tags here do we? Obviously vBulletin has it but the script hasn't been implemented as far as I can tell. I figured spoilers would make reading/navigating the OPs of future group buys much easier.

By the way, still waiting on an email back from Melissa with quotes and stuff for everything. I gave her the full details on everything, including the stepped capslock keys.

Speaking of the stepped capslock, I have some interesting news... Apparently SP fixed all of the stepped capslock keys from round 3, but 7bit told them to just wait till round 4 to send them, presumably to save on shipping? So basically they've had a bunch of keys ready for everyone and sitting in their shipping department since like a week after they were notified that they were defective. Credit where it is due, SP doesn't deserve anything but praise in my opinion for their customer service. So there shouldn't be a fitment problem to worry about with the new stepped capslocks for this buy, Melissa knew exactly what I was talking about. Did everyone else already know this? I sure as heck didn't and from what I remember, everyone was blaming them for what happened with it.

I think people knew money ran out for R3 so but then you got some people saying they would pay extra shipping but dunno why it still hasn't happened

But then again I wasn't around for that so I probably shouldn't speak

I see, well I could easily get them with my next round and ship them out to everyone, especially since I imagine many buyers will be ones that participated in Round 3/need that key still. I just need to know who they go to. I imagine I would need to ask 7bit for that?

I know the list is large, a lot of the people wouldn't be on this GB either I don't think some of those users we don't see as much anymore.

Can't hurt to shoot 7bit a PM. I'm sure people don't mind paying a few dollars for shipping to finally get those keys.

Kinda sucks since I bought a R3 set from another person on here and now they would be getting the fixed stepped caps lock ._.

i bought mine from duq, so he doesn't have it anymore.. and im the one that needs the stepped caps lock fixed. PMing 7bit wouldnt help much for the people that didn't buy theirs directly from the GB

The stepped capslocks for GB3 were supposed to ship out with my order but when I had to give all of that up I was forced to step down as the shipper for that. Having all of the caps go out through a separate buy, and in an add on fashion, can work in theory but there are always those people who will be left out with that process.

the problem is for the people that sold their sets.

i bought mine from duq, so he doesn't have it anymore.. and im the one that needs the stepped caps lock fixed. PMing 7bit wouldnt help much for the people that didn't buy theirs directly from the GB

Mine was from pitashen
