Yeah, seems a brownish purple or somewhat like that, not gray at all.

I love blue though, so this is perfect. And it's of course a sculpt by Clack, so it lacks the imperfections of new artisans.

I did want to bring this up, but was too chicken.

Now that we've seen blanks at $65, how does that make some of you feel? I mean, retail price, that is. I'm sure Clack's handiwork is toppest of notches and I'm eagerly awaiting mine (first Clacks), but I've seen people complain about this price range for double- (even triple-) shots this past year.
Obviously people will pay any price for a Clack on the secondhand market, including blanks, but here's a retail price of $65 for a blank.

Want that blue, though...

I agree, I think prices are starting to jump up a bit overall (not just for Clack). However, his seems to be one of the few that can warrant a price increase with little to no pushback, for a multitude of reasons.

last year the $65 tier sometimes resulted in a skull and a blank (single colors) for mx winners. i'd imagine the majority of people would prefer getting that more than a single blank when paying retail, as nice as that blank is.

i just don't see the value when you can get similarly-nice blanks from other makers for less than half the price at retail. you're overvaluing the brand at that point imo.

I understand Clack doing it considering how ridiculously high his caps fetch on the aftermarket. He's recouping some of his funds. ;)

I guess I just wasn't expecting a blank for $65, and wonder how other artists will use this reference in the future.

i'm referring entirely to the retail market, where the maker sets their prices based off their own reasoning. so clack popping out blanks at $65 is saying the material composition/presentation of the cap and his reputation as an artist (which plays into how much he values his time) is worth 2x more than anyone else. and for this specific blank, i disagree with that pricing (obviously when special materials/processes are used, the cost can be more justified though).

Uh, after market buyers already did that.
i'm referring entirely to the retail market, where the maker sets their prices based off their own reasoning. so clack popping out blanks at $65 is saying the material composition/presentation of the cap and his reputation as an artist (which plays into how much he values his time) is worth 2x more than anyone else. and for this specific blank, i disagree with that pricing (obviously when special materials/processes are used, the cost can be more justified though).
A napkin drawing by Picaso will surely cost thousands times more than my napkin drawings.

but that's aftermarket pricing. picasso wasn't going around selling his art for 10 million dollars.

It really all went downhill since he died.

After market price dictates the true value of the piece of work. If Picasso were alive today, surely he won't sell his new art at what he sold one century ago. He would have priced his art pretty high compare to other artists.

You should watch The Mystery Of Picasso, it may change your view on him a little?

but for double all the other artists making the same type of art, even at the same/similar quality? and in instances where the art he was selling was a total blind sale (where consumer dissatisfaction is more likely to occur overall)?

you don't even have to look at pricing of another artist, you can just look at clack's pricing in his most recent sale-

since you could say that the weed caps sold in this are the same pricing tier as blanks (based off of historical pricing), what changed to where the price of those caps has more-than doubled in three months? and even factoring in blind sale format?

sure, if he's consistent during cv with distributing blanks at $65, you could say it's just an updated pricing model. but if someone gets a rarer skull or ogre at the same price tier (already happened)- do you think someone that got a blank but was wanting one of those (as is likely to be expected of the $65 tier) is going to be happy? do you think the someone on the other side would be willing to trade their winnings straight-up for the blank? i don't think the average person would, which is why i say that price is getting a little out of control (yeah yeah, it's basically a marginal price difference in the end, but it's the principle).

the pricing for last year's CV was also higher than the pricing for his usual sales.  the $150 wins were tricolors, whereas  with his previous sale prices, tris were around $65.  my guess is that CV is kind of an annual fund raising event.

ps. if anyone is unhappy with their clack selection, they can return them to me, keke.
