I really like the G703, it's a great mouse. But unfortunately a lot of people have issues with the scroll wheel (myself included). Luckily it seems to be fixed on new one. Logitech were surprisingly quick to ship a new one, no questions asked.

Retooled MX blacks

How do they feel? I have an MX Black in a switch tester that feels amazing, but the silent blacks and old blacks from a G80 weren't very smooth even with lube (on the latter, I think the housing the problem though, not the stems).
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.

I have yet to try vintage blacks so I can't compare them to those. But they feel very smooth, smoother than some MX blacks I have laying around from a switch tester.

But it's always difficult to really tell until they're installed in a board. I'll also be lubing and most likely spring-swapping them too.

Switch opening tool from Mechbox. It looks kind of ghetto but seems to work great.  :)

I hate solder suckers if I'm doing more than 2-3 components at a time. Much prefer the desoldering station I own with one of these:

I actually ended up lubing mine which supposedly helps with this issue. The plunger resets faster now, creating a more powerful vacuum and hopefully preventing it from clogging up. I have nothing to try it on right now, though.

I'd gotten a used Leadtek GTX1080 Hurricane for my 4K TV....

I had also ordered a Logitech G613 + G603 combo to game on my 4K TV, these are good, really good, fast and responsive.....feels like I was using a set of wired gaming KB and mouse actually. These arrived earlier than expected, I was expecting them on Wednesday, but they were delivered today in time to test (a couple of games UT3 and Gears Of War Ultimate) with my just acquired GTX1080 on my TV at 4K resolution.

I basically did what he did in this video (though I used Superlube grease instead):

For some reason time-stamping doesn't work, but skip to around the 4:46 mark.

So wait.  In that video he basically says that the lithium grease just keeps the plunger working fast as it should.
I didn't hear anything about how it helped with the clogging. Are you only applying it to the plunger also?

I think I read a thread a few years ago that suggested the reason they get clogged so much more easily is due to how small the suction hole is.

After using it for so long I've just gotten used to the fact that I'm going to have to pull some solder out of the tip with my fingers if/when it gets stuck.

The theory about lubing the plunger didn't come from the video, sorry. I read that somewhere else, I don't remember where exactly. But someone wrote that the nozzle was less likely to get clogged after he/she lubed it because the vacuum was more instant/powerful with the reduced friction.

I only applied lube to the plunger, yes. I've also read about people drilling out the tip hole to expand it by a minuscule amount, saying that it worked well too. I just figured I'd try lubing first as it's easy to undo in case it didn't have any effect, where as widening the tip hole seems like a more permanent and irreversible modification. :)

Potato pic of the FC660M w/MX Blacks that arrived today.  Solid feel, prob not going to bother with a switch swap or alumium case.
