geekhack key group buy - Jan 2011
« on: Tue, 04 January 2011, 02:42:34 »
Ok.  It has come to my attention that several of you would like to see additional color schemes.

For this next group buy, we will do a black key with bright orange lettering (in honor of the site's dark theme).  Revised pricing is as follows (since I realized the old pricing isn't quite covering the order and shipping):

USA - First key $7 shipped, additional keys +$4 each.
Non-USA - First key $11 shipped, additional keys +$4 each.

Pre-pay just like the last batch.  Send money via paypal (as a gift if at all possible) to herzog [at] uhhh [dot] org .  Please include number of keys, your mailing address, and your geekhack alias/username.

Since this is the start of a new one, it will be a couple of weeks.  I typically place the order as soon as I have about a dozen interested parties.  Although, since I don't have any of this color combination myself, I'll likely place the order sometime this week because I'll be anxious myself to get them.  :)

Looking through the previous geekhack key thread, I assume this new batch will only be for cherry MX switches, as well?

Work: White HHKB Pro 2 w/ lettering
Home: White Filco tenkeyless MX Browns

We have done Alps in the past as well.  Might just take a bit longer.  Heck, let's make both available this round!

Just specify which type (Cherry or Alps) in the paypal msg.  I'll assume cherry if none specified.

I have maybe four total.  If you want a couple, follow the above directions and make sure and specify that you want the red/white alps ones.

NOTE, I'm likely out of these completely after Kindchunks, so nobody else try and order them from me unless you check with me first!!

Go contact Unicomp. Though you can't do the orange on gray scheme since they'll probably only offer black lettering.

I would never organize a group buy of specially-printed keys from Unicomp.  Very low quality IMHO.  But they (Unicomp) have many other fine qualities.

Is it of worse quality than model M's? I thought they used the same processes..

The Geekhack key caps are great for any of you on the fence.  I'm typing on a cherry with the white on red version right now, and it's making my typing "skillz" much more "leet".

Guaranteed to get you hot chicks and at least 20 more wpm.

:P

Seriously they are very nice, and it's very cool that iMav keeps making new orders for those that missed out originally.  I'm out of places to put them or I'd order more!

There are few Cherry keys left.  There are a TON of Alps keys left.

I can swing one Cherry key for each of you if you haven't ordered already.  (follow the instructions in the first post of this thread)

These really look good on black keyboards:
