PrestonWalzDesignStudio presents, GMK + DCS RGBYK Add-on kits (RGB 2022)!
It's no secret, this colorway isn't new to keycaps. It's put simply, classic and timeless. RGB accents are a must-have for your 50 beige/9009 colorways, or whatever you see fit! I'm deciding to offer both GMK and DCS for this project. To be clear, the two profiles will be sold in GB as two separate listings in the same timeframe, and produced/shipped separately in conjunction with GMK and Signature Plastics estimates. If you want to purchase both GMK and DCS RGBY, you will essentially be joining two different group buys that will ship independently. I'm just keeping everything on only one Geekhack IC to keep things simple and organized.

If this is referencing DCS 9009, why would I want cherry legend keycaps to go with my dcs 9009 that uses wyse?

Colors are still being worked on, 100% stock colors is the ideal turnout.

This is so extremely low effort.

This set ran two years ago, which is fine. I think it’s been enough time maybe to justify a rerun. It looks like, however, you didn’t care enough to look at the previous kitting to realize you’re missing some very important things. Why would I want to use text + icon mods on my 9009? What if my beige set is r5? Should I just use r4 on part of the bottom row? Cherry legends on DCS? You haven’t even to bother to list the colors you’re going to use. Do you even know what colors to use?

You just announced you’re last gb failed after spamming every social media outlet to beg everyone to buy it. Now you come in with some low effort garbage a day later. Slow down and think.

tbh, what sets are out there aside from dcs sleeper, dcs midnight and that one version of wob, using cherry legends on dcs? not even mentioning that the sets using cherry legends off the top of my head(aside from sleeper) likely won't even fit with this theme-wise, noting this, wouldn't only WYSE/Gorton legends be the default play since even vintage DCS uses thin legends?

Would like for you to work on getting better renders. I wouldn't mind an RGB accent kit becoming available, but you should know what the stock colors are. There's a lot that could've been done to make this set better overall.

DAY 1 UPDATE

Kitting adjusted due to feedback. RGBY GMK and DCS color codes have been listed.

Notes:

- Added R5 key support.
- Added icon-only modifiers.
- All colors are listed. Entirely stock GMK and SP colors. This should help keep cost low.

I want everyone who wants RGBY accents to be able to have them without issues. Please continue providing constructive feedback so I can further improve this product.
(WYSE legends are still being considered!)

DCS KITTING UPDATE

Further improvements have been applied to DCS kitting, I think they're worth mentioning.

- Replaced R5 keys with R4 Gorton legend modifiers. DCS kit now includes full support for both Cherry and Gorton legends. To me, this is better than scrapping DCS cherry support entirely, or making two DCS kits with one having Cherry and the other Gorton legends.
- Additional 1u R4 FN key added with Gorton legends.

I've seen some IC responses/comments expressing concern for vendor complications, due to the fact this set is shown in GMK and DCS. To clear up any confusion, the two kits are separate projects, they're just on one single IC to keep things simple. The two will run in the same timeframe as two SEPARATE group buy listings, meaning they will be produced - shipped - and delivered in conjunction with their own SP/GMK lead times.

*Everything I said above was said in the IC project description, please read it!*

If you want to purchase both GMK and DCS RGBY, you will essentially be joining two different group buys that will ship independently. I hope this helped, please notify me of any further questions you may have, thank you!

Given that running both at the same time is likely to cannibalise sales, wouldn't it make sense to just pick a single manufacturer and put all your effort into that IC/GB?

Beyond that, GMK Hineybeige is planning on running with a RGB kit at a similar time. Seems to overlap with your estimated date.

I wish you the best with logistics tbh. I know it's not classic or vintage or really related to any existant board but having rgby dcs in wyse is something I'm really looking forward to. It will let me retrofit r4 and r5 to hhkb and other layouts with my vintage dcs that I just picked up

Pretty awesome to see an RGBYK kit again, however while it's cool to see the DCS RGB here, I for one would rather have seen an RGBYW GMK kit instead. We really haven't seen a kit offered like that in a long time, and especially with the widespread use of WoB it's certainly something that a full-fledged kit (yes I know that GMK Thinkcaps had its own sort of RGBYW kit, however it isn't all that complete) would be great for, especially with that beautiful R5 support.

I intend on developing a fully decked out RGBYW set soon after GMK + DCS RGBY, featuring R5 support, wide kitting, and more! :)

- RGBY''K'' now.
- GMK RGBY red has been switched from GMK stock V1 to GMK stock P3.
- You may have noticed, the kit renders are brand new!
- I'm nearly finished with reviewing quotes, and optimizing pricing for GMK + DCS RGBY kits. Ideally, I expect to release full retail pricing sometime this week... group buy date reveal too?

If you are offering both R4 and R5 support, there are enough mods to cover two boards if you add one more FN-key.
One board with Icon mods and one board with Icon+Text mods.

It seems that the DCS set has two of them but not the GMK one.

Idea how to keep set smaller: I saw that for WoB sets would be better legends in CP colour (GMK ThinkCaps). What about:
1) add orange R4/R5 <Menu>
2) split set to 3:
2.1) R4 rows only with CR legends
2.2) R4 rows only with CP legends
2.3) R5 rows only with CR/CP legends ... with R1 <Esc> and R3 1.75U <Control> ?

Idea how to keep set smaller: I saw that for WoB sets would be better legends in CP colour (GMK ThinkCaps). What about:
1) add orange R4/R5 <Menu>
2) split set to 3:
2.1) R4 rows only with CR legends
2.2) R4 rows only with CP legends
2.3) R5 rows only with CR/CP legends ... with R1 <Esc> and R3 1.75U <Control> ?

I'll def consider your suggestions for RGBYW. If I'm understanding correctly.. you're suggesting 3 child kits? I don't see this happening, because I want to avoid multiple MOQ's for a set like this.

First I'd like to give a huge thanks to everyone's patience and dedication to the project, I've been working hard to finalize GMK + DCS RGBYK 2022.
After applying all the feedback since launching this IC, I'm happy with the turnout in terms of the final kitting and overall project quality. We were able to optimize pricing to hit $60 USD for both GMK + DCS RGBYK 2022, which is equivalent to the original GMK RGBYK Add-on kit run in 2019.

GMK + DCS RGBYK 2022, will launch at the same time on August 16th and will run until September 16th.

Hiney is running RGBYK with GMK Hineybeige, it will almost certainly be at a larger MOQ so I'm not sure why this is running.
What set is the DCS kit even supposed to compliment?

Originally, I made GMK RGBYK 2022 with V1 as the red, but I've switched to P3 because it more modern sets use P3. For example, GMK Beige Add-on and Extensions by mcmcmc, uses P3 as the red, and I imagine those kits will be popular among beige users, who also may use RGBYK 2022 accents. Also, I slightly prefer P3 over V1 (P3 looks more red to me), which I think fits nicer for RGB mods.

Did you really get renders of pad printed keycaps for a doubleshot set

Not sure if you're talking about both renders or the DCS one.. I suspect the DCS render?
The Fooblitsky DCS models don't come with doubleshot details on the underside of the keycaps stock. I'm 100% in the mindset that renders should try their best to be accurate of the product being sold, but sometimes you just can't get it perfect. Still, it's an error on my end for not noticing the lack of doubleshot detail on the underside of the keycap material.

In case there's any confusion, both GMK + DCS RGBYK will be produced with fully doubleshot legends.  :thumb:

Probably too late but the kitting really needs an R3 control for MX HHKB layouts. Even Puddsy approves of this.
