Also the current DSA Retro GB

So it's about how much it cost to add caps on..

Honestly, there will probably be a price change because I want it to slightly mirror the DSA buy that matt3o and samwisekoi ran in that:

Base kit means that.  Buy one of these and your entire tkl board is covered in sweet sweet keycaps.  That includes those ISO users (to a degree), winkeyless users and stuff.

Mod kit will be for adding contrasting colors to your base set and will include both standard mods and spacebar on top of a tsangan set.

Does anybody have a good picture that shows the differences between an ISO DSA enter key and an ISO DCS enter key?

Wouldn't it look horrible if one key on the board had a different profile than all the other keys?

It's too bad SP doesn't have the molds for DSA profile ISO Enters, then. :(

So a Input/Base Pack is 87 keys all OoCC (or all CCoO)?

It will actually be 100 keys, all OoCC or CCoO, like this:

And the mod kit is:

Also, I will probably include ISO in that base kit as well.

Pricing is as follows:

Base (inc ISO):
25 sets                   $114.40 per set
50 sets                   $83.31 per set
75 sets                   $72.94 per set
100 sets                 $67.76 per set
150 sets                 $62.58 per set
200 sets                 $59.99 per set
250 sets                 $58.44 per set

Modifier Set (46 total keys)
25 sets                   $73.76 per set
50 sets                   $49.61 per set
75 sets                   $41.56 per set
100 sets                 $37.53 per set
150 sets                 $33.51 per set
200 sets                 $31.50 per set
250 sets                 $30.29 per set

I keep banging on about this, but that price seems phenomenal.

Oh, they made it.  That price for base kits *includes* ISO.

Also, that's not all I'm offering.  I'll have additional ISO kits available as well as numpads and geekhack keys.

Just wondering because I have an orange alpha from R4 that could use some white mods to match.

Will these come in white alpha/orange mods and the reverse like other sets in the past?  Or only all orange or all white and we need to buy a mod set seperately?

Well, you're changing to OAS, right?!

Actually, yes, because the original orange I picked is a translucent orange that they don't double shot with.

Just wondering because I have an orange alpha from R4 that could use some white mods to match.

Good thing for you, then.  Here's the email from Melissa:
TJ-
I was just reviewing your original email and I failed to notice the color code you chose for the orange. OBC is a very translucent color and does not lend well to the doubleshot process. While we have it on our color ring, we won't run it for a double shot order. We also don't have hardly any in stock. Would you be open to another color - perhaps OAS?

Will these come in white alpha/orange mods and the reverse like other sets in the past?  Or only all orange or all white and we need to buy a mod set seperately?

The base set is a uniform color (so CCoO or OoCC), so you would have to order a mod set to get the contrasting mods.  I personally don't feel that the contrasting sets look as good as either uniform one does.

Oh cool. Would you consider offering blanks (no legends) like in the DSA Retro kit? I would love to have more complete sets for the Ergodox

i think the ergodox was
4 x 2-units
12 x 1.5-units

if not i understand but my ergodox will be sad :(

If I can get use of his software, I will have blanks and different space bars and mods available.

Also, and this is a maybe even if I do get his software, I may run a retro r3 lookalike with Orange Madness.  I'm hesitant because of a supposed round 5 coming and at least one person talking about GMK dolch.

is it possible to arrange for tooling the ISO enter (in DSA) and maybe asking for quotes of a german language pack (pls see attached file)?

thanks  :)

Correct

(Attachment Link)

Melissa was fairly adamant that it wasn't possible to do the ISO enter in DSA, but of course if we were to pay for the tooling, I'm sure that answer would change.  But are we really going to try to spend however many (what I assume are) thousands of dollars for one cap?

Also, I'll email her about the German pack, but I really don't want to turn this into DSA Round4: Everyone gets caps!

ALSO, big news.

I got word back from GMK finally about doing a basic version of this.  Including 7xspacebar, 1.5x mods, center stemmed caps and 1.75x shift we're looking ~$85/set.  And we'd need to get 400 sets sold.

Because I was asked to price a German kit.

I can price this, as well.  While I am going to have the ultra basic ISO included in the base kit, these will be extra subject to their own MOQs.  Depending on how things progress, I may work a bit of subsidization to help, but I'm trying to toe a fine line and not just end up being R4: Pt 2

Yup and I'm always willing to order what enough people will pay for.

I wish I could get 400+ people on board for one solid set, though as I'd like to run a buy through GMK, too.

Damn GMK MOQ. I wonder if they will end up changing their mind after seeing so much interest from us. I mean, if we can get 150 set MOQ, they would be swimming in GBs from us.

I wonder if I should just run both gmk and SP and if GMK doesn't hit MOQ, oh well.

Oh the other hand, I could see that backfiring as people just place an SP order thinking that GMK MOQ won't be met anyways and I don't really want to take the CCoO full set from SP to push people to get the GMK version.

Scenario A: Just SP

Scenario B: Just GMK, if it fails, go SP

Scenario C: Both at the same time, if GMK fails only SP

Scenario D: Both at same time, don't offer the color that I'm getting through GMK through SP.

I wish their MOQ was just 100 less.  I know I could get 300 fairly easily considering Klaxon (which was a replica of a replica) got near 250 sets sold and retro got over 300 sold.  Maybe if I offer this on DT, too and have a proxy for KBM and OTD and whatever else.

As to dolch, let one of the other people that have claimed that they're getting dolch through GMK put their money where their mouth is.  I've got other sets I think are interesting enough to let them.  Matt3o suggested doing this along with Orange Madness (or Orange Crush, I kinda like Orange Crush more now) - http://lab.cubiq.org/kbcc/#WA,GPA,GPA,WA

Never gonna make the 400 MOQ, not with the current stable of keyboard enthusiasts. Once SP buys start to get closer to that number, then we can try with GMK. Either that, or front the $34000 and sell them as a vendor for $10 profit per set. What a way to make $4000, huh?

Never gonna make the 400 MOQ, not with the current stable of keyboard enthusiasts. Once SP buys start to get closer to that number, then we can try with GMK. Either that, or front the $34000 and sell them as a vendor for $10 profit per set. What a way to make $4000, huh?

Assuming I can get 400 sold on my own, heh.

EDIT:  I could also run Scenario D and when it came time to collect, I just buy the leftovers to sell to stragglers and the like.  Even 200 is a lot easier to sell than 400...

I prefer option B.

I think people are keen on those GMK caps and if we don't reach MOQ there is a backup option.

Running both at the same time will probably split interest and result in lower numbers for each option.

For everything being capital lettered?  Yes, everything is a go with no price difference.

@tj

thanks for the quotes. "deutsche kit" is way less than expected.  :) however the tooling cost for ISO enter is quite hard.  :-[ What do you think if you add $7 on each kit? This way you would need to sell "only" 500 kits in total to cover the ISO enter tooling and pricing would look like follows:

Base TKL

25 sets                   $83.25 per set
50 sets                   $65.92 per set
75 sets                   $60.15 per set
100 sets                  $57.26 per set
150 sets                  $54.37 per set
200 sets                  $52.93 per set
250 sets                  $52.06 per set

Modifier Set (13 total keys)

25 sets                   $35.03 per set
50 sets                   $25.69 per set
75 sets                   $22.57 per set
100 sets                  $21.02 per set
150 sets                  $19.46 per set
200 sets                  $18.68 per set
250 sets                  $18.21 per set

ISO (5 total keys - Enter key is DCS)

25 sets                   $21.12 per set
50 sets                   $16.70 per set
75 sets                   $15.22 per set
100 sets                  $14.48 per set
150 sets                  $13.75 per set
200 sets                  $13.38 per set
250 sets                  $13.16 per set

Numpad Set (26 total keys - includes the 3 extra 1x keys pictured)

25 sets                   $37.66 per set
50 sets                   $28.88 per set
75 sets                   $25.95 per set
100 sets                  $24.49 per set
150 sets                  $23.03 per set
200 sets                  $22.30 per set
250 sets                  $21.86 per set

Deutsche kit

25 sets                   $22.77 per set
50 sets                   $19.85 per set
75 sets                   $18.88 per set
100 sets                  $18.39 per set
150 sets                  $17.90 per set
200 sets                  $17.66 per set
250 sets                  $17.51 per set

If you are going above 500 sets (in total) you can further reduce the "tooling fee". Would be great if this would be possible, as nobody likes incomplete sets.  ;D

First of all:

500 orders is just not realistic.

And second of all:

Even though I am an ISO user and would profit from this, I wouldn't want others to pay for my stuff.

I mean at least 90% of all people won't need this enter key. Why should they pay 7$ per set for it?
