Adding DB-25 out to mech keyboard
« on: Sun, 02 August 2015, 01:05:30 »
Hey Geekhack, I need some guidance. What I'm going to try to do is add a DB-25 out to a keyboard so it can be used with a PS360+ in a project box for console games while retaining its capabilities as a working USB keyboard when not plugged into a console. My question is, can I take the simplest route and just solder the wires to the holes in back of the keyboard PCB that the switches are anchored to (one signal wire for each and a daisy chained ground going between all of them)?

I have a lot of experience building arcade sticks, but know very little about how keyboards and PCBs actually work, so my main question is whether having the extra wiring (especially the ground daisy chain) there would affect its ability to function as a regular old USB keyboard, or worse, somehow fry the board.

Thanks for any help.
