This looks so awesome and cool to see IV involved! I am typing this on my Av3 😍

Please add two 1.5u Super keys and a second 1u Alt key either to the base kit or an extension kit to add support for macOS 7u and HHKB layouts. I am aware the Novelties would let you fill that layout, but I would love to see the normal mods added too for those who do not want to use novelties on the bottom row for a cleaner look or don't like the novelties but like the colorway.

Good question. The absence of a specific manufacturer would suggest we're looking at a nameless factory rather than one of the big hitters, which totally makes sense if you're trying to keep the price down.

On that point it would be good to see the proposed $99 price in the original post rather than tucked away in the IC form.

Some people like PBT, others like only GMK, I'm sure the price for the set will still be how it is since this isn't a GMK set. Don't get me wrong, I don't really approve of people flipping the set, but that's the way it's become with how scarce the set is to get. I sold all my extras at extras price and they sold in less than 10 mins. I'd love to see the price of the GMK Ashes to lower after this set runs, but realistically I don't really see that happening.

As I see it, you're 1) addressing a scarcity issue 2) setting a good example with a fast turnaround 3) adding a little variation to the market -- a triple win in my book.

Set looks good! Would you consider some sort of 40s support? For a single base, I would recommend 3 key : 1.75u r2 backspace, 1.5u r3 Enter and 1.25 r3 Tab are generally used and allow for a wide physical compatibility among 40s, from 12us to 12.75, passing by some 13us

Please clarify if its normal dyesub or reverse dyesub/5 side dyesub. Given that alpha font colours are lighter than the keycaps itself, I would assume its 5 side dyesub. Please do not omit such information, especially because of the quality issues surrounding this method of dyesub.

If its 5 side, please clarify if the warping and shrinking issues that come along with this method will be fully resolved or if your QC will cover such flaws.

Also, given that the manufacturer is new and their quality unproven, I think your IC is too early because you have yet to receive samples, and you won’t be able to confirm what you have claimed on the IC.

I urge people considering this set to hold off any impulses until pictures of samples are shown as PBT, 5 sided dyesub sets tend to have many issues regarding QC, colour, warpage, shrinkage and the like.

This should be the very first thing that a new PBT manufacture has to clarify before launching a groupbuy

3 key being:

The method of dye sub doesn’t need to be clarified. If the legends are lighter than the keycaps it is reverse (5 side) dye sub. That’s how it works

That being said with no manu named I assumed it’s either a manu people don’t like or one that has never fulfilled a group buy so I don’t have a ton of faith in them

We had an issue with the form not collecting emails for the first 48 hours. This contact will ONLY be used for BIG updates. If you were not able to provide an email or are not sure please see the IC again where you can edit your responses:

First an update on kitting: we are unfortunately not able to include support past what was presented in the IC. We talked about kitting extensively before launching the IC and believe the kit offers the widest compatibility for its sub $100 price. Adding to this would have a separate setup fee breaking the target price.

The flat render has been updated with the following:
ISO accent key now has a novelty sword design
Corrected numpad 1u 0 to the alpha colorway

Proxy vendors will be announced soon that will cover all major regions: US, CA, UK, EU, Asia, SEA, and AU.

As mentioned before, samples are currently in the production line. Once those arrive we will be able to set the final design, price, and release details. IV has limited the release to 500 units to ensure quality and delivery at the estimated 120 days. At this time, he is unsure if the set will run again.

I don't normally use accented enter so the ISO novelty isn't for me but I'm sure there will be plenty of people who appreciate it :thumb:

Any idea of how the 500 sets will be allocated between the various regional vendors? As a UK buyer it would be nice to know exactly how slim my chances are going to be.

Thank you to everyone for the tremendous support on this project. Due to the high engagement we had on the IC, we have reevaluated the project's goals to make sure we can make this the best it can be for all.
 

 
Our first goal was to remove the number limit on all items. To make this happen, a small support staff was hired and tested during the shipment of Av3x Boulder. Joe is now confident the logistical demands of the project can be met. So this GB is now an unlimited GB! We are still on track for the $99 price with 120 day turnaround.
 

 
This update took longer than we would have liked due to the power supply issues in China. This is an ongoing problem but now the Chinese government is communicating with the factory on how to find a balance until power is fully restored. This extra time did allow for the samples to be made on the same machines that the production units will be run on instead of using a “sampling machine.” This gave us the best possible production samples, allowing for more informed feedback.
 


NOTES
 
+ The texture of the caps is fantastic. Feeling is similar to a fresh GMK set.
 
+ Legends are crisp with no bleeding.
 
+ Novelties are good to go.
 
+ Mod color is super close to the GMK mod color.
 
 
- The reverse-sublimated alphas are a match to the Pantone that is the closest one to the GMK release. While we do like the color, for the second sample we are going to use a custom color based on the original RAL to find a balance.
 
- Legend alignment is a bit off for some of the alphas and number row. The number row is drastically misaligned. This is an art alignment issue on our end and will be fully addressed with the second sample set.
 
- The mod spacebars are temporary as we focused on getting the alphas in the first sample. We will be testing both alpha and accent colors in the second sample.

Hey Tyson, Can you clarify the photo on the burgundy board?  Are the alphas on the left the samples on IV and the right GMK?  I have GMK but the lack of 1u alt and ctrl makes me want to get this set, but the blue hue of the left half of alphas is definitely not what I am looking for. Also, no way to add the black enter key to this kit?  I love that look on a black board, but I'm not a fan of the sword novelty personally.

Hello! So yes the samples on the Styrka are on the left, the GMK set is on the right. We are working to try to get the alphas to be more accurate to the GMK set as they are currently more blue. We will be addressing kitting in a future update soon so be on the look out for that! Hope this clarifies everything for you!

Second samples are in! We look at these more as v1.5 samples than v2. The main focus of this set was to test the new custom alpha color, updated artwork, and molds. With the feedback from this set the true v2 samples will be much closer to production.

Updates for v1.5:
New alpha color
Legends art
7u and 6.25u spacebars now alpha color
Split spacebars now accent color
Added Esc and Enter accents keys
Added HHKB/Apple kitting
Changed “Code” to “Ashes”
Updated molds to prevent warping

Focus for v2:
Fine tune new custom alpha color
Match mod legends to alphas
Art alignment

Font size and alignment are also one of the main things we will be focusing on in the next version of samples along with the color matching!

It's been awhile since an update, thought I'd chime in. We are still waiting on the next round of samples to be completed. A few changes were made for this round of samples so when those arrive and are inspected by IV and me we will definitely update all of you guys on it! Fingers crossed that this will be the final sample required and everything gets approved so we can get this going!

5mm? Damn that's dummy thiccc for a deskmat lol. Typically 4mm is the standard for most deskmats, unless your TKC or Kono in which crappy 3mm is your standard. I think we already have samples of the deskmats in 4mm and felt those were good enough to approve. I'll look into getting 5mm sample mats for my other projects though!
