Saw something on instagram from OP - looked like they're still actively designing it.

That's good to hear, haven't really looked into these ergonomic designs much and am interested in the layout.

Hi, I Finally have time to start working on this keyboard again, here the new render. any feedback? I see many people find the name to hard to pronounce, should we change it or just make it simpler by just calling it "MAJA"

Spec :
- 6061 Aluminum
- Hotswap PCB with RGB Each key
- Thick removable aluminum plate (4.5-5 mm)
- USB type c

The plate is by default thick, but i made it removable and changeable just in case someone want to use flex plate.

Is it possible to have options to have a thick Brass plate aswell?

When it's ready for GB will it be sold on KBDFans?

It's posible, but it would be really expensive, would make this keyboard really suoer heavy and shiping cost will increase.

Yes GB will be on Kbdfans

Looking nice! Would definitely be interested in some other plate materials though. KBDfans is doing polycarb for the Polaris so I would hope either a Polycarb or POM plate might be doable.

Personally i think i would probably take a thin (1.5-2mm) Brass/PC Plate than a thick (4.5-5mm) Alu one. I think a lot of people would prefer for a thinner plate with a higher variety of materials than having a thicker plate in just Alu.

I also really like the slight stagger on these three keys on the original Alice design. On the Maja design they are just a vertical line. Would i be possible to get the slight stagger back? Aesthertically i think it looks awesome! :D

Thanks for all your hard work on the project and i really look forward to be able to join the GB! :D

Reason i made a thick plate is because the PCB will be a how swap removable switch. A thick plate will allow the PCB to be screwed in and hold firmly to the plate, this will make it easier for the user to install and remove switch.

and yes i understand that some people like a thin normal plate and maybe the want to cut their own plate to make it flex more. that is why I made the thick plate a removable plate.

Oh that's awesome, i completely forgot that this will be hotswap compatible! In that case i agree with you completely, a thick plate is best! If it's possible to be able to get a thick Brass or Polycarbonate plate option that would be amazing and i would definitely be willing to pay a premium for it. :D

+1 I think the staggered keys on the right give the entire board more balance compared to non staggered.
I was also thinking of maybe a design for the weight instead of just the text for majapahit. Not a huge fan of the font :(

I'm leaning more towards "MAJA" only because I can never spell or pronounce Majapahit correctly.

+1 to additional plate materials. I'd be willing to pay more for different plates.
+1 to a geometric/logo on weight vs text. Majapahit also has a lot of references to the sun/mandala/Hindu gods patterns, so I think a patterned weight would look nice.
Also, is there enough interest to make it gasket mounted? Since you asked the question on the IC form.

I guess I'll throw in a few things since I've been using an Acrylic Alice the past few weeks and want MORE! ;D

Please please pleaasseee offer a PCB that is non-hotswap.
Different material plated would be very nice, my vote is for FR4 or PC, or at the very least upload plate file so we can make our own!
Staggered macro row is definitely more appealing to me, but I'm sure you have your reasons.

Thanks!

I see many people find the name to hard to pronounce, should we change it or just make it simpler by just calling it "MAJA”

I actually much prefer the original name “Majapahit”, in part due to the reference to the ancient empire.

Here is an idea, if you are leaning towards renaming it “MAJA”: apparently, “maja” is Javanese for the bael fruit. So, maybe the design of the brass weight can incorporate this fact, e.g. the brass weight is in the shape of a bael fruit, or an engraving of the fruit on the brass weight.

Incidentally, you could still do that even if you retain the name as “Majapahit”, as “pahit” is the Malay/Indonesian word meaning “bitter”, in reference to the bitterness of the fruit.

I feel like the keyboard is too non symmetrical, if you could add 1 pillar of macros on the left side(staggered) to make the length of the left side and right the same, it would look much nicer imo.

Perhaps consider a Vulcan logo engraved on one of the corners of the rear bezel for infill, and the Majapahit kaliedascope logo on the weight?

Have been following this IC from the start but somehow only recently noticed that there is a 1.5u mod "missing" and the gap circled feels a bit empty to me.
Any specific reason to leave this gap here? Are you considering a logo of some sort?

I agree, thank you for the input, which one do you guys think is better?

Option 1

Option 2

For the stagger i personally thinks it makes the layout looks messy.. I thinks keeping it straight makes it cleaner

For me, i think a row of Function keys on each side of the board is too much and looks a bit messy.

I would prefer a single row of staggered function keys on the left or right not both. my preference would probably be on the right to fill up the space made by the arrow keys.

Probably not what you're going for but i would love it if it was changed to the original Alice layout. If it aint broke don't fix it.
