GMK Boulder, Coming April 2nd

Inspiration

GMK Boulder is a keycap set based on the majestic Yosemite National Park, as well as the climbing community within it.

During my visit I was mesmerized by the sights of Half Dome, El Capitan, Sentinel Rock, and many other amazing sights.

Changelog:
12/17 - Added renders
stuff in January was not recorded due to my laziness
2/8 - Shortened IC form as I have received feedback and kits are in the process of being edited to accommodate

I like the concept. I like the chosen colors. I just don't like where they're placed.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I thought about doing an Alternative Alphas/mods kit, but decided against it for now. I have had some others say the same thing as you, and there is a chance I will be adding something of that sorts.

I have thought about this for sure, I might be including this based on IC form turnout, but im still not super sure about it. There is a kitting update coming soon, and I may or may not include alt alphas/mods of some sort.

If that’s happened for GMK sets, I don’t know any. For every alt mods kit that I know of w a companion alt alphas (failed GMK rocket, Carbon r2, taro 2, posh) the mods were more save GMK laser r2 where blocknet w/o numpad coverage tied gaijin, and the alt alphas kits have mostly stayed below 80 and often below 75, and the alt mods kits are 65/70$ if blocknet/micons on drop w higher MOQ, with most at 80 (aurora Polaris) and up, including those from years ago (terminal r2 w stock colors was 90), to the infamous 150$ umka mods.

If you price both alt alphas and alt mods at the same moq, alphas are very likely to be cheaper.

That sounds awesome! When I was in Yosemite, I didn't do any of the big hikes because it was a school trip, but I plan on returning this spring and doing Clouds Rest! If you like the tunnel view mat, just wait for the mechfashion sleeve design reveal!

I recommend using accent color as legends color for alphas and mods because of the visibility

You aren't the first person to tell me this, HOWEVER, the set is meant to be low contrast. I am confident that they will be more visible in realistic lighting, and I plan on keeping it the way it is. Updated renders on the way!

I think you're gonna have a MOQ problem with that F-row novelty kit, since people will probably choose the standard novelty over this kit. I think merging 2 novelty kits into one is a better idea.

I love bouldering, but I have never been to Yosemite or El capitan so I have no connection to that, I imagine that's the case for most people that don't live in the US or even people from US that don't live near the west coast.

The set itself is not bad at all, hard to go wrong with earth colors . But the desk mat is awful and does not do the set justice at all. Please consider using the three desk mat designs this guy shared maybe?

(btw i like Yosemite too, but the problem is that it seems really low effort because it comes from Google images, it doesn't do look great)

That guy didn't really give me three designs, it was a ****post that just said "rock" on it 3 times. I'm currently reworking the deskmat, it's going to be the same concept, but a better image/vectorization.

Yep! I removed the RAL codes from my IC due to clone manufacturers threatening to clone the set.
