One thing about aqua leds is that they don't actually look very aqua in person - they're actually more green compared to what shows up in most photos.  Many cameras have trouble reproducing the color.

I used a few of these in my LZ-GH (had to shave them down with a dremel tool):

http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/through-hole/aqua-3mm-led-18-degree-viewing-angle-4000-mcd/308/1240/

Here's what they look like with an HTC potato cam:

And here's what they actually look like (color corrected and shot with a professional DSLR):

Yup, they do!  I was just complaining about that myself (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=49632.msg1300541#msg1300541).  I have to do some color correction afterwards to get them to look more life-like in photographs, and it's still not the same.  Judging by your color correction, yours are what's mistakenly called "cyan" by some vendors, which are more green than blue in person.  Ours are more blue than green and are "ice blue" from Taobao.  I have both kinds, and the cyan looks more like jade in person, whereas ice blue looks actual turquoise/cyan.

So a true aqua/teal led does exist, just they are not readily available outside of taobao?  Good to know.

Mostly.  I found some in the US but they were very expensive and I think round and non-flangeless.  But yes, they exist!  They look a shade more green when installed than on that Orion above.  More examples here.
