Ooh, FE's are the ones with the steel (or was it iron even? "Fe") backplate right? Or actually I think it was an option for that model?

too bad that SQ has no LEDs, I was wondering how you control the LEDs

I wasn't sure which LED's I wanted and I have to many boards I need to assemble. The white switches drove me crazy. I went through about 200 too. I bought some meore switches from mechanicalkeyboards I while back when they still had clears and for some unknown reason I bought another bag of whites! So....I guess I'll be sorting again. I like the green with black case and keys, I may emulate you to a certain extent if that is ok?

Go ahead, I myself find green and black goes very well, though I also think a yellowy amber LED would also look great with black

Cant have both :( I might do yellowy amber for my next board (if I ever decided to get more boards)

The yellow underglow might have something to do with it though :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

this, plus one more thing. it weight like 4 kgs, when ppl try to lift it, they think its glued to the table :) one does not simply expect a keyboard to weight this much.

Thanks jokrik! They're Gateron keycaps in cherry profile, I think its just the shadows making it look that way.

Yeah, I'm in on that too. I'm really hoping they end up doing the plate, otherwise I might not have use for an extra PCB now.

guess i can finally participate- jwaz's ex-duck viper (vintage blacks, white backlight, red underglow). was pretty much my perfect setup for if i were capable of making my own mx board, so figured i'd give it a go:
lights off

lights on

up close and personal

mood lighting

on the fence about the switches still. they're really smooth and the perfect weight for me, but feel like my hhkb still outranks it overall. blacks definitely better than topre for gaming though.

Hey guys and gals
I have a quick question about the bolts/screws Gon uses in his keyboards. I have a board coming in and I really want to change the color of the bolts on the board and don't feel like ordering them from Gon himself and waiting 2 months and paying $30 plus dollars for the 12 bolts I need. From what I have been able to gather they are M3x12mm anodized aluminum bolts with a flat Hex head. My question is has anyone here replaced there's with some they purchased else where ? I am looking to find something either locally or online in the US. If so can someone recommend a place to buy them ?  This is my first custom and really want everything to be perfect !

I'm hoping that they are a standard bolt that can be easily sourced in a variety of colors. I am also unaware if these bolts that Gon uses are special in anyways that would make sourcing them from him mandatory 8) thanks for your time and expertise all ! Sorry I am such a noob, I am learning but a lot of this stuff is still new to me. Especially the DiY mods and building which Is really what interests me the most  :thumb:

Thanks again

I'm thinking hyperfuse, Olivetti (if I can get lucky enough to find a set) or JTK  !

I have the means to get all the parts, just no soldering iron. I suppose I could buy one of those though. Or find one already assembled. I really like the duck viper posted a little higher up.
