two of my favorite OTD boards in one picture...lovely keyboards :)

Do you mind sharing what it is about those boards that you appreciate so much, given their surprisingly high price?

it's not about the price.  it's about the rarity and collecting.  they are definitely the nicest boards I've ever used still the price is not for everyone

Okay, so, what makes them the nicest boards you have ever used.

well in general it's the heft.  the brass weights make linear switches feel really good.  The boards without weights are usually meant for tactile switches like the cheat and 356n.  If you like tactile MX a lot, I'd say get another board if you just are after a nice feel and don't care about the rarity, maker etc.

Winkeyless b.87 with acrylic diffuser case.  Lubed and stickered clears with mx black springs.  Placeholder JTK set until Skeletor shows up (this set is the closest to fitting that I have with the iso left side but ansi right side).  I am loving it so far, but really wish I hadn't clipped the pcb tabs from the switches to use in another board.  I was able to find 3 random switches in the bottom of my keyboard drawer that still had the tabs to use in the stabilized keys since the plate doesn't even touch the switch.  It still feels solid, I just need to be a little more gentle changing out caps.

i agree with u  bro. OTD should not be related to rare or price. It is about classic design and original cherry performance. Just like DGE and CL. They provide me different type feeling. DGE just like water and CL more like beer. When using DGE EVERY thing goes simple. simple sound simple angle simple output. CL HOWEVER. Do not us it heavily. otherwise u will be drunk. Type feeling is amazingly. Inner brass bar has made pcb and switches more sensitive.......

Simplest answer I could give is that I just enjoy them for what they are, like a work of art. Price nor rarity are concerns...you can find rarer boards for less. Each board has slightly different nuances...with my current one the softness of the 360c case + vintage black switches is indescribably good...aphrodisiac like  :D. 360c was the first OTD (and custom keyboard) I ever got to use (at a meetup) and got me hooked on korean customs.

They're the only keyboards I enjoy using more than my HHKB which says a lot. I try not to use them all the time...very intoxicating like hitlu said  :))

Kinda strange to just buy keyboards to keep as kits and not even use, even stranger if he doesn't even intend to flip them. Just for hoarding or for keeping for the sake of trades with others?

Status icons in this hobby always kind of seemed dumb.

That's what I meant exactly, seems really sad that these boards will never have the joy of being typed on. But then again, I'm not judging, different strokes different folks. I certainly know a few people who does this exact same thing but with motorcycles instead of keyboards  :))

Yeah, I guess if you've got the income for it and it's not negatively affecting anyone, then there's really nothing to complain about. Some people just enjoy collecting things for the sake of well, collecting them alone. :P

Kinda strange to just buy keyboards to keep as kits and not even use, even stranger if he doesn't even intend to flip them. Just for hoarding or for keeping for the sake of trades with others?

Status icons in this hobby always kind of seemed dumb.
I just assembled in 1 PCB and then i can swap the case .
Keep as kits is a way to keep the condition of those board mate . If you assembly or use it , it might be damaged even you keep it carefully , those are too heavy.
And well , i bought it for collecting because i love the anodizing of those Dolphin and OTD as well  . Never have any plans to flip or for the sake of trades. I really hate and of course never sell to who's think me will get any advantages by collecting those boards

Interesting, didn't think about just swapping around the plate and pcb.
