I am super excited to finally unveil GMK Terra
Design
Same as with Mizu I wanted these kits to be affordable but at the same time cover as many layouts as possible without compromising on important keys.
All of the colors are custom RALs to provide the best GMK match.
I welcome all feedback and suggestions and if you like this set you should consider filling out the Google form it really helps!

Hmm, I think you missed my point completely. :)
To put in to simple terms, you know how there are countless of dolch colorways, countless of hyperfuses? Just by looking at them, you can tell what it is. This is on another level, though. Looking at Rens and hisuis sets, I can tell it is theirs by the style - which on one hand is good, to have such a distinct and recognizible style. I however kind of feel like GMK as a whole is stagnating a bit, and I am getting bored.
I look to talented designers, like Ren for example, to wow me and present me something new and exciting, as I am losing interest looking at what we have circulating now.
Handarbeit is a bit of fresh air, unironically, I hope we see some norms being broken moving forwards.
Maybe it's not going to happen in this series of keysets, but all I can do is share my personal feedback, regardless if anyone agrees or not. :)

Abec literally just commented something similar to what I was originally going to say on this subject, but the sets are different in terms of design. Terra is definitely a much darker set over all, but that works to the benefit of its theme, IMHO.

So how exactly does Hisui have a design 'formula' if Moon Dust is her first ever set that she's IC'd?

Ren did design, IC, and successfully run (with the help of Upas) Peaches N' Cream before Terra was ever in IC, not sure what else to consider a different project like PnC other than "a breath of fresh air."

I don't even get what you mean. Mizu has three colors in the true base. Terra only has two. That right there immediately makes a huge difference. Also Terra has two accent colors and Mizu only had one. So this is obviously not just Mizu altered to green. If you're going to make claims this bold, at least add some specific criticisms and feedback.

Considering that this is someone's IC thread for a specific set and your argument of stagnation in keyset design seems to be relatively broad, I'd say that might be a pretty solid evaluation.

Well Janglad and I did a ton of work to bring new life to keycap sets with the new mod legends and you didn't like that either. So I don't really know what will satisfy you lol

I would pay close attention to your own standards before going off like this. If you would like to continue discussion of designs being stagnant, maybe you should look at Nines being veryyyy close to Carbon Boneyard. Scitex? Already existed. Firefly, not catching my fancy either as the palette colors, still, do not invoke feelings of "fireflies." I guess every set should be muted and bland for you to be excited.

I don't think Emir was "going off" on Terra. I think he (or she) was making a broader comment about GMK sets on a whole, as of late. From the short time that I've been on this forum, designs seem to give birth to new designs, that's just how things go. As usual, if you don't like it, maybe voice your opinion in a constructive way, but don't go trashing people's sets. If you don't like it, then don't buy it.

Appreciate the feedback! I had some versions with beige but did not like them as much as the current version. As for the greens, in the show, several shades of greens are used for the earth kingdom. Also, the mods are not black they're very dark green ;D

I see. I guess i don't like the very-dark-almost-black green. It is true that several shades of green were used, but I don't think often enough for them to make me associate the dark tones with the earth kingdom (not counting Korra). Well, I am definitely still a weeb but yeah sub legends are too crowded looking imo. I would consider offering mono Hiragana or Katakana though if people wanted. :D

GMK now has 1.75U and 1.25U convex tooling. Will the two blank 1.75U keycaps in the 40s/Ortho kit be convex?I didn't know they had that now. I'll have them made as convex. Thanks for the heads up!

I think this needs more of that yellow accented color. It needs to scream Toph than just green.
I agree, and in the Google poll, I had a question asking if people would rather swap the 2 accent colors, making the yellow the primary one with arrows and spacebars. And it has won the poll by a landslide, so new renders with these changes will be coming soon. :thumb:

Are the novelty designs set in stone? Is there any chance you'd consider making the art style a little less cartoony? Maybe more Earth Kindom symbolism rather than.. what is currently proposed ;D
They're not in stone and I might be moving a few around based on feedback, but the show these are based on is a cartoon. The style of these was done by the same artist as Mizu, the feedback has been very well received on the current designs. Hope this helps! ;D

The dark one is nicer in my opinion.
If the green glow color really matches the glow color of the crystals in the tunnels, that would be aewsome!
