This is the first set designed by Inverse Design Collective, a group of individuals with their own skills coming together to create quality sets for this community.
Our project team for this set has been Buburoo, EURA, FreshFromTheGrave, and Anonymous-S.

What originally started off as a meme quickly became a passion project; KAM Li’l Dragon takes inspiration from the exiled dragon-child of anime series Miss Koboyashi’s Dragon Maid (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon).

We wanted to create a set that is as faithful to the character, as it could be, in a mechanical keyboard keycap set. DSA Li’l Dragon is a set inspired by the physical characteristics of this small prankster. Her hair color inspired the top-down off-lilac to purple gradient; her dress, the pink accent color; and her hair beads, the dark blue-grey legends. In order to emulate her character in a typeface, we decided to go with all lowercase legends and a rounded sans serif, Proxima Nova Soft (https://fonts.google.com/?query=proxima+nova) for the Latin Alphas, and Chihaya Jun (https://www.freejapanesefont.com/chihaya-jun-download/) for the Katakana Alphas. This set features novelty mods all inspired by elements of her character and the show itself.

Moved non-accent coloured space bars to Alpha kits to accommodate 40s users with such a preference.

As someone who would use all the novelty mods, I wouldn't mind paying extra to get it separately (or having 2 separate kits) so those who want normal mods can be satisfied.

I'm not too familiar with DSA are there multiple manus that do it? If so which one are you planning to use?
Also I'm guessing you have considered it, but any reason why you didn't go for KAT, I know there are issues, but I'd like to think it will get resolved with time.
Not that I'm against DSA, if you're only reason is "We like DSA" then that's good enough for me.

We've been thinking about adding in non-novelty mods, just go ahead and express that in the IC Form!

We also have not yet decided on a manufacturer yet. DSA was chosen for a number of reasons. The group as a whole felt that there aren't enough DSA sets in the market as of now; when the set was just a meme, the name included DSA; and also the designer felt that DSA was the most faithful to the character inspiration in its properties most successfully out of all the other profiles.

  • Have you considered hiragana, rather than katakana?  I don't feel strongly about it, but hiragana feels "cuter" than katakana to me, especially in that font. Maybe it's too much, though, idk.
  • Please consider including ゛and ゜ keys in the kana monolegend set, either as separate keys, or replacing the 「 and 」 keys.  On an ANSI keyboard, these are the same keys -- ゛ is on the same key as 「 and ゜ is on the same key as 」.  But on a JIS keyboard, that isn't the case -- ゛ is on the same key as @, and ゜ is on the same key as 「.  」, for its part, is on the same key as む.  Because of this, the kit as it currently stands would not be suitable for a JIS keyboard.  I realise this may not be top priority for you as most people buying the set will not be using JIS, but the ゛ and ゜ legends would be compatible with both layouts, and feel more appropriate to boot, being essential keys for typing kana, so it feels like you could solve the JIS problem without breaking anything for ANSI -- a win-win result. The vast majority of kana monolegend sets take this route, with the unfortunate exception of DSA 2049, whose regrettable decision to include both 「 and ゜ legends on the same key renders it unusable for JIS-layout keyboards.

Re: Hiragana vs Katakana you've hit the nail on the head. We felt that Hiragana, whilst rounder and aesthetically "cuter", would be the sensible way to go however we felt that this made the board look too busy. We ultimately opted for Katakana because of the cleaner, simpler, and less busy look it gave the board (and also we're suckers for a good pun - KataKANNA).

Re: dakuten and handakuten you are correct! After having a look over our kitting we can satisfy ANSI-JP, ISO-JP and JIS by simply swapping the brackets for these keys/symbols.

Profile changed from DSA to KAM.
Added a mono legend Hiragana alphas kit.
Added a Colevrak kit to support Colemak and Dvorak users
Added a Norde+++ kit which will allow compatibility to our Danish, Estonian, Faroese, German, Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish & Finnish friends.
Added custom icon mods and text mods across all layouts.
Split our offer to 40s users into a 40s kits and ortho kit.
Re-worked our Ergo kit to offer more than just blank keys.
Created a separate novelty "extras" kit that will include 3 new Kan-moji's, and new Heart and Bunny Head designs.
Added a Blank Mods & Alphas Kit.
Removed "Clear Sky" deskmat design.

It's fantastic that you will have a full-alpha Colevrak kit including ISO support (the seven keys circled in blue).

I have a few comments:
   • Colemak's R2 apostrophe/quote is missing.
   • The R3 "Y" shouldn't have a homing bar.
   • Are the two keys circled in orange necessary?

Also, Colemak's DH and DHm variations could be supported by adding six more keycaps.

I realize there are already a bunch of pipe keys in the latin alphas kit but would be nice to see the lightest color 1u pipe key for HHKB layouts (and just generally split BS). Great work on all the icon mods/novelties!

There's one small mistake in the new kit render: R3 "G" is missing - previously it was between "F" and "C".  Dvorak and standard Colemak both need it.

Because of the way the Keyreative/KAM does its MOQ there is no "Base" kit as such.
As an example, if you are buying this to fit a 60-65%, TKL or 1800 type board you would purchase, as a minimum:

We've tried to make it as simple as possible so that people need only buy an Alphas kit and the Mods kit for the layout they prefer :)

Stunning colors! And I love the lowercase letters too. I'll definitely be following this one. I think I like the icon mods better than the novelty mods because of the monoline design of the graphics though.

March 2021 Update

We’ve got the news you’ve all been waiting for in this update… but first, let’s talk about one or two other things.

Back in January we requested our quotes from Keyreative as well as our colour samples. Well, we’ve had our quotes back and are in the process of discussing these with our Vendors. Our samples are also en route, we’ll let you know more about that once we have them in hand!

Deskmat samples were also ordered just before the Lunar New Year and we’ve been told they are also en route. We’ll be changing out the Deskmat Renders for photographs once these have arrived!

Next we can reveal our collaborations with THOK & MechFashion!
If you follow THOK on Instagram you might have already seen this but we’re really happy with what has come out of this collaboration! Make sure to scroll down and check our keycap and rotary knob!
For our collaboration with MechFashion we decided to let you wrap your favourite keeb in the soft fluffy clouds that are also on our deskmat designs. We’ve also included a stunning purple gradient for those of you who prefer a bit of minimalism. Be sure to scroll down and check out each design!

This is the second group buy I've seen in the past month or so to feature a THOK artisan that has been rejected for sale (or not allowed to be sold?) by US vendors. Does anyone have any insight as to why? Rama artisans seem to get supported across the board...

I know this is very late but would you consider adding a 1.5u key in the home-row color to the blank mods kit? This would allow minivan compatibility (the 1.75u key on the qwerty row isn't much use without the 1.5u). Thanks!

I know it's late in the process but any reason convex 2.25u and 2.75u are so hard to get in this set? I really want to order but all my ergos use 2.25u and 2.75u spacebars only.

There are 2.25 and 2.75 spacebars in both the Spacebars and 40s Kits
