Hi everyone, we are Milkyway Keys.

We are a relatively new PBT keycap manufacturer from China and we have ran several China exclusive GB since 2020. We have been continuously improving our product and now we are confident to present them to keyboard community around the world.
Currently we have very short lead time (1~2 months after GB) and we are open to designers to run their sets with us!

Today we present you our own set: PBT 02 & PBT 015. We designed these two sets due to popular demands from our fans from China. We are aware that is existing set on the same theme but this is our brand new take on the theme.

We totally aware the GMK Darling's existence. But we love the anmie so much, and that is the only color scheme fits the best to the character. Thus, to distinguish from GMK Darling we did the novelties based on our understanding.

Love the set, I would slightly soften either the pink or the white base colors on 02. The white is so stark/bright it makes what should be a softer color palette look a bit jarring to the eye.

Funnily enough, swapping the modifier and accent colors to make the mods white was something that I considered doing while GMK Darling was in the design/IC phase.

Ultimately, I decided against it since it wasn't a good fit, but aesthetics are subjective. Sets with lighter mods than alphas are hard to get right.

I'm tired of waiting for a R2 on that too.

GMK groupbuys aren't as simple as just "doing it"; production slots are limited, and there's quite a bit of work that happens on the part of the vendors and designers behind the scenes. GMK's lead times are also much longer than they were in 2019.

There is also a different GMK keyset that I've been working on, and I'd rather run something new than immediately re-run a previous set.

If you're curious, I've been working on a PBT version of the Darling colorway since January 2021 with the support of a vendor (I have posted about this in my Discord server multiple times). It's not ready yet because I'm waiting on samples, and it probably won't be for a few months.

Sorry to keep you waiting, but I prefer not to rush projects out the door.

i'd suggest a very subtle pink tinge added to the white so it's not such a stark contrast between the mods and alphas. that way you can have the same feel as white mods, without actually being white

kinda regret buying GMK Darling seeing this, depending on how things go i may get a 015 although being and uncultured swine i have no clues about either animes, just liking the colorways, and if i remember right pbt is better with chemical than abs, so should not have to fear damaging the caps when disinfecting it.
although i am in Europe, would you consider an European proxy?

i kinda feel like the colorway ownership idea is a pretty big limiting factor in the kb market. designs and logos, sure, but when you keep it at 2-3 colors and group them alpha, mod and accent i feel it should not be considered as "owned" by anyone, else we will kill innovation in the space. that was my feeling on the subject

The one you linked from is a GMK Darling clone. Honestly, we shouldn't be promoting GMK clones and PTB 02 isn't a clone.

As for the pricing, it isn't as simple as why don't we set the price at any arbitrary price? There are multiple factors on why a particular keycap set is priced in its way, such as designer payout, quality of the keycap material, quality of the dye-sub, QC, packaging etc.

For a GMK clone/HKG keycaps that sells cheap, you can expect that they don't need a designer payout and probably using the cheapest PBT keycaps material available to them. If you compare something like EPBT to the clone you bought, you should be able to see the quality differences.

We are both designing and manufactoring these caps.

We have a designer team which work with us full time to design keycaps. We have manufactured several sets from our designer team and they have been well-received in China. PBT 02/015 is their latest work that we want to share with everyone in the oversea community.

Meanwhile, we expanded our manufactoring capacity over the last few month and now we are able to work with other designers to produce their sets. For example, the PBT Lord by Rifen and few more on its way.

We welcome other designers to contact us for potentially running their set. We have very short lead time right now comparing to other manus and we are able to produce top tier dye-sub sets for cheaper. Hopefully, the PBT 02/015 and PBT Lord GB would help to convince designers to consider us for their future set.

I respect all your points, and they make valid reasons, for me as a consumer, to invest in the sets presented in this IC for now, primarily for the dramatic differences in lead times.
I'll surely consider whatever future round of darling when/if it's physically going to happen.

In China, if you IC your whole keycaps design on Zfrontier, there's a risk your design will appear on taoboa the next day.

Mostly likely the vendor is using an outdated kitting render with mistakes. R3 shift is not a thing, don't worry about it.

Yes, it will be available for EU GB.

Our timeline were kind of short noticed for this set. Rama / Thok might not have enough time for make metal artisan for us.

Also, Rama/Thok would probably cost like 3/4 of the cost of the whole keycap sets... I don't know how we feel about that.

Nice update 

It's wasn't really my favorite art style at first, but it has grown on me for sure.
I really like the "pink girl" mat, but "blue girl" something looks a bit off to my eyes.
Not exactly sure what it is, but something about her face/back lacks a bit of "depth".

Nice update 

It's wasn't really my favorite art style at first, but it has grown on me for sure.
I really like the "pink girl" mat, but "blue girl" something looks a bit off to my eyes.
Not exactly sure what it is, but something about her face/back lacks a bit of "depth".

man 02 looks even better than Darling, it's a bit easier on the eyes. I'm tired of waiting for a R2 on that too. so yes, 100% in for 02 and will surely consider 015 because Ichigo is for cultured individuals.
kitting is far from ideal but if the full set runs for less than $100 it's ok for me. and please use Cherry fonts on mods too.
oh and +1 for an EU vendor.

Funnily enough, swapping the modifier and accent colors to make the mods white was something that I considered doing while GMK Darling was in the design/IC phase.

Ultimately, I decided against it since it wasn't a good fit, but aesthetics are subjective. Sets with lighter mods than alphas are hard to get right.

I'm tired of waiting for a R2 on that too.

GMK groupbuys aren't as simple as just "doing it"; production slots are limited, and there's quite a bit of work that happens on the part of the vendors and designers behind the scenes. GMK's lead times are also much longer than they were in 2019.

There is also a different GMK keyset that I've been working on, and I'd rather run something new than immediately re-run a previous set.

If you're curious, I've been working on a PBT version of the Darling colorway since January 2021 with the support of a vendor (I have posted about this in my Discord server multiple times). It's not ready yet because I'm waiting on samples, and it probably won't be for a few months.

Sorry to keep you waiting, but I prefer not to rush projects out the door.

Whelp now I'm torn. GMK Darling is a set I missed out on and figured it'd never get another round, seeing as I didn't think the show was all that popular outside of the season it aired. Honestly though, I'm probably just going to end up getting this set and PBT Darling whenever it launches. It's a good looking pink set.
