Where to buy Ducky Shine II Keyboards
« on: Thu, 06 June 2013, 21:59:29 »
More specifically, blue LEDs with Cherry MX Blues. I've scoured the market and they all seem out of stock. Should I just wait for the Shine III? And if so, when will it come out

Welcome to Geekhack!

Probably wait until Shine 3 comes out - it has more lighting modes and is rumoured to be slightly cheaper than the Shine 2.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Alright, thanks :)
Are the Ducky Shine II keyboards usually this hard to find?

No - a lot of places usually sell them.  But leading up to the Shine 3 the Shine 2 is no longer supplied, and vendor stocks drop to nothing in anticipation of the Shine 3.

It was the same when the Shine 1 gave way to the Shine 2.

As I have a lot of problem to import that keyboard to France (where I'm living) because mechanicalkeyboards.com do not propose the DK9087 (TKL) only 9008... I want to know if the Shine 3 will be soon released in the TKL version at MK.com or an other website. :)
If it's with Cherry MX Brown swhitches and Green/Blue LED, with the same quality and slightly cheaper, I will be perfect! :D

No, unfortunately I'm in France and on MK.com they do not have any DK9087 Shine II... :/
I think I will wait until the Shine III will be released. Seems like to happen at the end of this month or during the next one, as they said on their Facebook page. :)
