55g Bluetooth HHKB w/ CMY mods, purple WASD, and "green" Fn. I don't really like the color of this green though. Once my Hot Keys come in, it's getting replaced with a quickness. Though I was pleasantly surprised by the colors of the CMY in person.

when I'm not packing fudge, I have some pretty boards

You have three HHKBs?

pls I have my limits

I only have two!

Still, two!  Most people (who have HHKB at all) only have one.

:D

Hi The_Beast. Can you please tell me where may I purchase that yellow backlit key from?

It's not backlit, it's a really washed out Candycorn Clack.

Thank you for clearing that up. I realize that Realforce boards do not support backlighting. However, I remembered viewing this video (
) on YouTube a while ago. I searched for it again to refresh my memory and it is evident that the key has an LED inside it.

My new baby. I just had to pick one of these up considering I am on a trip to Japan. The selection here is ridiculous: Leopold, any realforce or HHKB you could want and a slew of cherry boards- would definitely recommend.

The Yodobashi and Sofmap both have good selections. Tsukomo and Dospara also had quite a few keyboards in them. Akhiabara is a great place to go for any electrical goods: I would definitely recommend going through the Yodobashi especially.

Yeah, but what I'm talking about is having your arms flat on the desk, not being held up, so it looks similar to the correct image

As I understand it, people feel that the "sharp" edges of the space bar damage their delicate little fingers.

I cannot really see how that can happen if you hold your hands in the "correct" position, as illustrated above, as your entire hand and thumb is above the space bar.

With the wrong hand position your wrist is lower than the keyboard, and thus part of your hand, probably your thumbs, indeed would strike the edge of the space bar.

a flipped spacebar is comfortable IF your typing posture is already bad, like adding extra lumbar support when you slouch in your chair. slide dat booty back and Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!!!

Telling it like it is ;D

Wait, how is holding your hands above your keyboard and desk better than using your desk to wrest your arms/wrists?

Show Image

no?

look at the third picture down on the right side of your diagram, is that not what you are talking about?
rests are for resting, not for typing!!! just ask haata to give you a demonstration sometime  :D

Yeah, but what I'm talking about is having your arms flat on the desk, not being held up, so it looks similar to the correct image

your wrists would still be bent upwards in that case, however slightly.
i know haata told me he uses his chair's armrests above his desk- that way his hands drop naturally to the right level on the keyboard.

i place my elbows on my desk (stupid aeron chairs) and hold my forearms up slightly while typing.

55g Bluetooth HHKB w/ CMY mods, purple WASD, and "green" Fn. I don't really like the color of this green though. Once my Hot Keys come in, it's getting replaced with a quickness. Though I was pleasantly surprised by the colors of the CMY in person.

the way i have my wrists they are straight (for eg if you put your arm flat on the desk and then put just your wrist as flatly as you can, your hand is pointed slightly upwards, which is pretty much how I use a keyboard) idk if it's horribly bad or not, if it is I'll have to invest in some of Noko's work

It's all education :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I don't see how you can stand the "good position" without an arm rest. You'd have to raise your arms above the desk otherwise your wrists would obviously have an angle.

The chiropodist I often see told me that both your arms should rest on the desk otherwise it can be harmful to your back.

I think you'll find that the ratio of anime gifs compared to flipped spacebar talk is probably much higher.

You're just afraid you might like it! Don't be afraid to enjoy something as beautiful as a flipped spacebar, people just look at us weird because they are ignorant to the oneness of flipped spacebars.  ^-^
